Kitchen Inspired Pink & Green Bridal Shower {On A Budget!}

Once upon a time, just a couple weeks ago in fact, an adorable lady – who also happens to be part of the HWTM family – married her longtime sweetheart! And even though she’s still a young twenty-something, I really do mean longtime sweetheart… Alyssa and Paul have been dating since they were 14! I’m excited to share the details of her recent Kitchen Inspired Bridal Shower with you today, which was dreamed up and hosted by her (very proud) momma. You can definitely feel the love in these pics – from the obvious good time being had by all to the foodie-themed details inspired by one of Alyssa’s other passions. ;)

P.S. Excited to share details from the wedding soon too! In the meantime though, I’ll leave you with a sneak peek in the form of the cutest altar selfie pic ever!

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

– Cookie recipe-in-a-jar favors adorned with mini kitchen whisks
– Bridal Bingo + m&m markers in paper bags with rhinestone clothespins

Thai Chicken Flatbread with Light Peanut Sauce + Modern Kitchen Party Theme Ideas {Free Printables}

I’m such a huge fan of anything remotely peanut-buttery – which is why I’ve happily welcomed the distinct spike in PB&J sandwiches that my own diet has experienced since having kids. Funny how that stuff works. ;)

When I’m looking for a more grown-up style dish though, peanut sauce pretty much always hits the spot, and this colorful Thai Chicken Flatbread Pizza recipe is the perfect, delicious example! It’s got a great mix of fresh flavors, some of that cheesy goodness we all love, and a sprinkling of crushed peanuts for extra crunch.

Lightening Things Up…

And before those of you watching your waistline cringe at the fact that “peanut sauce” and “pizza” are both in the title of this recipe, I’ve got some good news for you… this tasty flatbread features a lightened up peanut sauce, mozzarella (a naturally lighter cheese), a generous dose of fresh veggies, and a hearty whole wheat crust made from the new Flatbread Mix from Krusteaz®. Suddenly things are looking a whole lot brighter, right? ;)  View/print the full recipe here & watch the video below to see how it’s made.

MODERN KITCHEN PARTY THEME

This wouldn’t be HWTM without a party angle, right?! ;)

On that note… I’m also excited to share some colorful Modern Kitchen Theme Party Ideas with you today, as seen in the Thai Chicken Flatbread video & inspired by the colors of the recipe itself. This theme & look would work well for everyday entertaining, a fun brunch, or a Modern Kitchen Bridal Shower. Read on for lots of fun DIY ideas + free printables!

I wanted to the look of this theme to be fresh & modern, and the execution to be budget-friendly, so I utilized some of my regular home decor & stuck with inexpensive DIY projects like paper garlands and tile coasters. (You can purchase plain white tiles at Home Depot for 13 cents each!)

1. Paper Garland – I wanted produce to be a key element in this design, so we hand-cut fruit and veggie silhouettes and glued them to baker’s twine for a fun paper banner that has kind of a retro-mod feel. (Download the printable produce silhouettes here.)

2. DIY Tile Table Runner – This project is surprisingly simple, inexpensive, and packs a big, colorful punch! It’s made from washi tape, colored masking tape, and simple white bathroom tiles. I’m going to post a separate DIY on this later.

A Lovely Lemon & Lavender Bridal Shower

Even though we’re in the middle of winter right now, it’s actually the PERFECT time to start planning ahead for springtime (or summer) parties! So on that note, I’m excited to bring you a fresh burst of sunny party inspiration in one of my favorite spring palettes today. The combo of bright yellow + chic lavender creates such a sweet, feminine look that works well for all sorts of occasions.

The talented Valerie Gimre of Charming Touch Parties was so inspired by this happy color combination that she used it as the theme for this gorgeous Lemon & Lavender Bridal Shower AND for gender-neutral baby shower, which you can check out right here. So I guess this is technically TWO bursts of party inspiration for today. Thanks, Valerie! ;)

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

– pretty drink stirrers adorned with “soon to be Mrs” party flags & dainty yellow bows
– soft lavender paper cups embellished with bright yellow lemon silhouettes
– tall glass cylinders & apothecary jars filled with bright yellow lemons
– beautiful dessert table backdrop featuring the bride’s initial + pastel rag tie bunting

LOVE ly Tea Party Bridal Shower {Vintage Lace + Pastels}

If there was a visual definition for “gorgeous bridal shower”, I’m pretty sure this LOVE-ly Tea Party themed celebration would be it!

Styled by the talented ladies of Events in the City and featuring tons of DIY details by the mother of the bride (Lyn), there are seriously SO many lovely details to soak in here… it was all I could do to keep this post from being a mile long! I might be pushing that here anyways, but it’s all fabulous eye candy, so I figure it’s worth the “trip”. ;)

Special Note…

As lovely as all these party details may be, the sweet thank you message that the bride has for her mom is even lovelier. You’ll find it towards the bottom of this post, in the “Party Details” section below the images. (Lyn, if you’re reading this – better get a tissue ready first!) As a mom of 2 girls myself, I sure hope they feel the same way about me when they grow up… which is still quite a long ways off, but as we all know, it’s crazy how time flies! And now back to the pretty party details…
