DIY Hipster Halloween Coke Bottle Decorations

DIY Hipster Halloween Coke Bottles

This post is sponsored by Coca-Cola, who you can now find on Pinterest!

Last month, I had a fun opportunity to visit the World of Coca-Cola museum in Atlanta for the first time, along with a fun group of fellow bloggers. There were some really cool & interesting things to check out there – like the Taste It! room, for example – which was my very favorite part of the museum for obvious reasons. ;) I also REALLY loved looking at all the different Coca-Cola bottle artwork exhibits… there are seriously so many fun things you can do with these bottles plus a little creativity!

And on that note, let’s dress them up for HALLOWEEN today, shall we?

Sunny Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes {+ Free Printables}

pineapple-upside-down-pancakes_1

If you’re a pineapple lover like me, then these Sunny Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes should make you extra happy! They start with pineapple rings cooked in butter and brown sugar, and end with drizzle of maple syrup and a pinch of cinnamon… need I say more? ;)

This recipe is part of my Baker’s Dozen program with Krusteaz, and I used their Buttermilk Pancake Mix, which has always been a staple in our house. Pancakes in general are actually a regular thing around here – they kind of feel synonymous with “weekends” to me these days – so it’s always fun to come up with ways to make them a bit different… like this!

The bright yellow pineapple rings remind me of sunshine too, so I designed some mini “Eat up, sunshine!” party flags that you can hot glue to toothpicks or bamboo skewers to make this breakfast extra special for someone.

click-to-download_yellow

You can find the full, print friendly recipe for these pineapple pancakes over on the Krusteaz website, but I wanted to share a quick peek at the process of making them with you here:

Deep in the heart of the woods lies an Enchanted FOURest Twin Birthday Party with glittering fairies, soft patches of moss and a certain large woodland friend… filled with candy! ;)

Starting from the most captivating, 3-dimensional forest party invitation and ending with butterfly kisses & birthday wishes, this party definitely feels like a fairytale!

Homemade Game Day Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

Football Game Day Dog Biscuits Recipe

Earlier this year, I had a great time dreaming up ideas for a Pet-friendly TAILgate Party for Petco filled with everything from pet-inspired activities to take-home doggy bags! And now that the NFL season is officially in full swing, we thought it would be fun to come up with even more fun ways to celebrate game day with our 4-legged friends… but tailored specifically to FOOTBALL this time. ;)

So, first up are these cute and easy, Game Day Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits. They retain the traditional “dog bone” biscuit shape, but become reminiscent of little footballs with a quick decorating trick. (I also made sure that the peanut butter I used did not contain Xylitol, to be extra safe.) In addition to serving as fun game day treats for your own pet, these would also make for a super thoughtful gift for your fellow pet-AND-football-loving friends!

I used this Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits Recipe from Petco for the base, then piped “football laces” onto each treat using a simple cream cheese based icing, which I’ll further explain below. Here’s a closer look at the process of creating them…

Mom and event designer, Jody Wimer of JPC Event Group, fashioned an epic unbirthday bash for her beloved daughter. I’m loving the soft florals, girly gold glitter and pretty lace details in Goldie’s sparkly & boho-chic “California Girl” First Birthday Party! {Magical & Artistic} Alice in Wonderland Birthday Party

Alice in Wonderland Party Costumes - Kids and Adult

Alice in Wonderland themes get me every time… there are just so many beautiful, whimsical, and charmingly zany details to draw inspiration from within this one (much beloved) story. And this particular Alice in Wonderland Birthday Celebration for twins Bella and Chloe – which was styled by Events by Ricardo and beautifully captured by Meda Peters from Photography by Meda – showcases SO many of our favorite “classic Alice” moments… in the most incredibly clever & artistic of ways!

Let’s start with the hand-painted elements… I mean, how fabulous are the Cheshire Cat faces and Red Queen “head in the hole” photo fun prop?! And then of course, there are the adorable costumes & fun head pieces for guests. Dressed up guests are always the best “decoration” at any party, right?! I also love how the birthday girls have their own playful Alice costumes that are a bit different from the outfit on the more “grown up” Alice. The rest of the family joined in on the fun too, with mom (entertainment journalist Lucia Castano), dad, and big bro donning character-inspired costumes as well!

From themed cake pops to incredible floral work, there’s a lot of creativity to take in here, so scroll down for a closer peek at all the fantastical birthday fun…

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • Alice-inspired cake pops with little black bows + matching outfits for the birthday girls!
  • DIY Mad Hatter inspired centerpieces made from candlesticks, floral balls, & whimsical accents
  • Fun headpieces for the pint-sized guests, including Mad Hatter hats & “White Rabbit” ears
  • Oversize Cheshire Cat face graphics smiling over the photo & dessert table backdrops
  • Hand-painted “Red Queen” photo prop + topsy-turvy Alice cake embellished with red hearts
  • Moss rabbit statue wearing a playing card smock + china adorned with bunny illustrations

Vintage-Chic “Paris in Springtime” Dessert Table

chalkboard fondant Paris cake

Even though Christina D’Angelo of Pearls and Spice was inspired by “Paris in Springtime” when she created this charming Vintage-Chic Paris Dessert Table, I think you’ll agree that the beautiful desserts and table styling displayed here can be appreciated any time of year!

In addition to the great use of chalkboard accents, (which is always a plus in my book!), one of the first things that struck me about these photos were the incredibly detailed and realistic flowers on the cakes… can you believe those are made out of sugar?! And I love that she included such a great mix of flower sizes and styles to create those beautiful, cascading clusters. Bon travail, Christina!

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • Open vintage frame backdrop adorned with prints of photos taken on Paris streets
  • Incredibly realistic, handcrafted sugar flowers on each cake
  • Pretty mini pastries like flower-topped mousse cups, lemon tarts and French macarons… of course!
  • Hand-painted, chalkboard-style center tier on the tallest cake + chalkboard Patisserie menu

Peanut Butter + Chocolate Alphabet Cookie Bars (Y-U-M!)

Peanut Butter & Chocolate Alphabet Cookie Bars Tutorial

We’re usually saying something when we bake cookies, right?  …whether it’s “I love you“, “I’m thinking of you“, or “I was just in the mood for something sweet…wanna join me?“. So, for a fun twist on this concept during back to school week this year, I thought it would be cute to literally S-P-E-L-L out some messages for my little one (who just started Kindergarten) and some of her playdate friends using cookies. ;)

So, I made these PB+C Alphabet Cookies Bars with the Krusteaz Double Peanut Butter cookie mix, a schmear of creamy peanut butter, chocolate frosting, and these small Alphabet Cookie Cutters that I found on Amazon. You can whip up your favorite chocolate frosting recipe to use in the middle OR make life super easy by using store-bought chocolate frosting…which is the route that I chose. #embraceshortcuts right?! Snickerdoodle Cookie Cup Caramel Sundaes (Yum!)

Snickerdoodle Cookie Cup Sundaes

We’ve had a crazy round of heatwaves in San Diego this month, so when it came time for my latest Baker’s Dozen recipe for Krusteaz, it felt like a good time to whip something up that was both sweet AND cool. So between that and my current affinity for mini desserts (they look cute + make it easy to justify eating more than one!), these yummy Mini Snickerdoodle Caramel Sundaes came to be… and then proceeded to disappear quickly after, if you know what I mean. ;)

You can find the full, print-friendly recipe over on the Krusteaz site, but I also wanted to share a visual tutorial for the cookie cups, because they’re surprisingly easy to make and just might be your new favorite thing! I mean, just think of all the fun things you can spoon into these tasty little gems!

Snickerdoodle Cookie Cups - Big and Small

I used a mini muffin tin for this recipe/tutorial, but tested out a regular size muffin tin too. (Simply double the amount of dough per cup for a regular muffin tin.)

MAKING THE COOKIE CUPS
You want your cookie cups to bake up evenly, which means being extra precise with the dough. I’m usually an eyeball-it sort of girl for regular cookies, but I actually used a measuring spoon for these… just make sure the scoop is level, then run your finger around the inside edge to quickly scoop it out.

Next, roll the Tbsp of dough into a ball, then coat it with the cinnamon-sugar mix included in the cookie mix box: (more…)

Beautifully styled by Pilar Reichlein of Vintage Mingle for a 6th birthday celebration, I’m loving all the crafty touches and overall sweet, handmade vibe. My favorite detail might just be the clever hay bale tea party table though… what a fun way for the little ones to celebrate outdoors!

Joint Royal Princess High Tea Garden Birthday Party

royal princess garden birthday party

Having kids with birthdays close together can be a tricky situation to navigate. Luckily, these adorable sisters don’t mind sharing one BIG, special day & their mom, LeLe Chan of LeLe Chan Designs, knows exactly how to pull everything together! This year, her girls requested a Royal Princess High Tea Garden Party, full of blushing bouquets, gorgeous watercolor stationery & tea party sweets fit for a Queen. One of my favorite details are the Disney Princess quotes at every place setting, which give the table a young, sweet feel while keeping with the overall elegant theme.

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • Floral decorated crystal chandeliers hanging from trees + tables under a white canopy tent with ivy
  • Tea sandwiches, mini raspberry tarts & chocolate eclairs + chocolate dipped Rice Krispie hearts
  • Stunning gold leaf & floral painted cake + simpler individual cakes for each birthday girl
  • Hand painted flower & tea cup cookies, pink rock candy & gorgeous flower crowns
