Beautiful Vintage Inspired Backyard Wedding

wedding bouquet

Hi there! It’s HWTM Contributor Amber here of Amber Lay Events. I am back this week to share a glamorous and vintage backyard wedding that I think you guys will love!  One of the first people I met in the wedding industry was Constance of Constance Curtis Events. She has been an incredible mentor for me over the years. Since this was her brother’s wedding made it really fun to work on together. :)

Constance did the planning and coordinating while I did the the floral designs and then took over the coordinating right before everyone went down the aisle since Constance was also a bridesmaid. Aaron of Aaron Young Photography took all of the beautiful images so a big thank you to him! We just love his work and him of course! ;)

DIY Tutorial: Tulip & Curly Willow Centerpieces

diy tutorial for a tulip and willow centerpiece with three varieties

Hi there! It’s Amber here again from Amber Lay Events. This week I have a gorgeous, yet very easy and budget friendly centerpiece idea to share using some of my favorite materials: tulips, curly willow, and rocks! The result? Fresh and earthy floral arrangements with a lot of impact but minimal product – which means money in your pocket… and that’s always a good thing, right?! :)

This centerpiece idea has not just 1, but 3 varieties! I always recommend my clients to consider using 2 or 3 variations of their key centerpiece concept at any event. For example, the 3 versions pictured here are unified because each one uses the same materials (yellow tulips, curly willow, clear glass, and rocks). However, the containers vary in size and shape so the look of each version is slightly altered, giving the overall event space a much more interesting look. Have fun recreating these!

DIY Tutorial: Yarn Wrapped Vases {+ Mini Dahlias}

yarn wrapped base diy tutorial

Happy Wedding Wednesday everyone! It’s Amber here from Amber Lay Events. This week I’m excited to share another crafty DIY Tutorial featuring yarn wrapped vases.

If you have any sort of old vase or container that needs sprucing up, try this simple technique to give it a fresh new look. I used yarn here, but you can also use twine for a more rustic look – or even sparkly, glittered ribbon for a more glam effect. I paired the yarn vases with mini dahlias here, but feel free to use your own favorite flowers or even miniature yarn ball “flowers” for a playful touch!

DIY Tutorial: Wine & Lace Centerpieces

lace and paint wine bottle diy

Hi there! It’s Amber here from Amber Lay Events. This week I’m excited to share a brand new DIY Tutorial featuring an artistic way to repurpose those empty wine bottles!

If you’ve seen my previous posts, it’s probably no surprise that I absolutely love to use recycled containers for centerpieces. What could be better than repurposing those empty wine bottles (that I know you all have!) as cute floral vases? Or this could be a good excuse for emptying some new ones. ;) These paint dripped and lace wrapped wine bottles make for such a great bridal shower or bachelorette party centerpiece… or for wine and cheese night with the ladies!

Happy Wedding Wednesday Everyone! It’s Amber here again from Amber Lay Events! This week I am excited to share a DIY Neon Wedding Table Number Idea!

I don’t know about you, but I am obsessed with neon right now, so I wanted to integrate those colors into this fun and easy recycled bottle project. I know that neon may not be at the top of every brides’s color palette list so keep in mind that you can change the colors to match your wedding (or milestone birthday party, engagement party, etc)! Also, a big thank you to Camryn Clair for shooting this tutorial!

{DIY Tutorial} Rustic & Natural Wedding Centerpiece

rustic wedding centerpiece tutorial

Hi there – it’s Amber here again from Amber Lay Events! As I mentioned last week, some of you may know me from my days as Editorial & Styling Assistant at HWTM. Now that I’m doing event coordinating and floral design full time, I am so excited to be the newest regular contributor for Hostess with the Mostess! If you missed my Candlesticks & Peonies post last Wednesday check it out here.

This week I wanted to share a DIY Wedding centerpiece idea that is not only packed with beautiful textures, but is also great for the environment since we are using recycled plastic containers!  The neutral color palette, combined the natural element of the bark, gives this centerpiece an earthy and warm feeling. Enjoy! Also, a big thank you to Camryn Clair for shooting this tutorial.
