PARTY DETAILS, as told by Lucinda…
We were SO excited to have one of our favorite COOP at home clients request a California Wildlife party for her beautiful 6-year-old! What an original idea – but how to do it?
My brilliant business partner came upon some fabulous graphic plates at Target by the amazing Oh Joy and that was the inspiration I used for everything. The colors we chose were gold (of course so we could use lots of glitter), hot pink and teal.
We then went to town glittering plastic California animals found at Michaels for our place settings as well as the mason jars for cutlery and the cutlery. We made a super sweet banner of hearts using light foam letters from Michaels and lots of pretty ribbon. On the day the rental chairs weren’t looking too fabulous so we added the left over ribbon from the banner’s to them and it turned out beautifully. We loved the effect so much we now use it for all our on location events.
We decided to use white tablecloths and then bought some white fur fabric (for that WILDLIFE effect) from the downtown Los Angeles garment district and the effect was dazzling. We hand painted cool California stencils on the party favors and Julie of Blue Cupcakes made her sumptuous deserts with the coolest neon cacti. Julie’s cake was just so beautiful and really helped tie everything together.
On each place setting we put a glittered animal as well as a glittered mason jar that held the napkins and wooden cutlery (mom loved this so much she said she was going to use cutlery in mason jars for all her dinners). We added some gorgeous California cactus in hand painted gold pots and the effect was very “desert California”.
Our little birthday girl and her sister topped off all their gorgeousness dressed in their pretty dress’s from the online store Mulholland Girl.
