colorful gymnastics birthday party

I’m flipping over how cute this party is! Krista O’Byrne of Hoopla Events stretched her creative muscles for her daughter’s Bright & Colorful Gymnastics Birthday Party. There are SO many creative details and tons of cute pictures (taken by Lauren Oliver Photography) of all the girls playing with ribbon wands, testing out the balance beams, and sporting their pink party bag favors.

Krista (with help from Banner Events) did a fabulous job of transforming the venue, *balancing* the sweets table and ultimately creating a very special day for 5-year-old Kennedy!

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • “KENNEDY” marquee lights displayed on custom balance beam + jumbo gymnast silhouette backdrop
  • Colorful polka dot balloons, bright pink table linens and ribbon party banners
  • Lime green plates, blue napkins, “energy drink” water bottles and printable embellished gable lunch boxes

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Krista…

Score a perfect 10 with your gymnastics-loving child by celebrating with a bright and colorful gymnastics birthday party. I hosted a colorful party for my gymnastics-loving daughter Kennedy. We had fun incorporating gymnastics inspired decorations, treats and favors the guests would flip over! A big thank you to Jen Carver from Banner Events for assisting with this event and Lauren Oliver Photographer for capturing the magic from the day.

  • Marquee“party” lights by Lollipop Lights
  • Custom shirts by Stitch This
  • Life size gymnastics inspired balance beam on the dessert table
  • Coordinating ribbon wands and gym party favors
  • Incredible theme coordinating cookies and treats

THEME & VENUE
Guests were invited to come tumble and twirl with our cute birthday girl, Kennedy! Once again, Anders Ruff Custom Designs customized one of their stylish invitations for our event. You’ll see that it inspired our dessert table design too!

We arranged to hold the birthday party at a wonderful local gymnastics facility. Black Hills Gymnastics provided the perfect setting for a gymnastics party. The owners and staff were so accommodating and helpful! A few of Kennedy’s friends came early to test out the equipment before the rest of the guests arrived. Don’t they look adorable in their custom shirts from Stitch This? They loved practicing their poses in front of our photo booth op. Print My printed the step-and-repeat designed by Anders Ruff, and the gymnastics award podium made a perfect prop!

The girls also tested out the fun ribbon wands and gym bags from Oriental Trading Company (custom screen printing from Color Graphics). All of the gymnastics party guests received a wand and a bag as part of their take home party favors! The girls that helped test out the equipment ahead of the party also received a personalized pink tote bag from Comfy Cozy Inc.. They are perfect for storing gymnastics and dance gear or any athletic clothing and supplies.

DESSERT TABLE

The inspiration for our colorful dessert table came from the invitation designed by Anders Ruff (as previously mentioned). We wanted to incorporate a life-sized balance beam as seen on the invitation. My husband Josh whipped one up in his shop. Doesn’t it make for a perfect dessert table prop? We added a printed (Print My) oversized silhouette of a girl on the beam from Anders Ruff’s collection and utilized festive large marquee letters from Lollipop Lights to spell out Kennedy’s name (just like the invitation). Colorful polka dotted balloons from our shop paired nicely with a ribbon banner made from digital scrapbook paper. Printable gymnastics ribbons from the Anders Ruff collection were strung as a bunting on the front of the table.

Desserts were stunning! Each was designed to coordinate with the printable designs by Anders Ruff and/or the color scheme of the party. Our focal piece was the two tiered cake by 4 Kids Cakes. Christina always does a lovely job. Just look at the gymnast replicated on the cake! 4 Kids Cakes also baked the cupcakes and designed coordinating fondant toppers for them. Beautiful sugar cookies from Auntie Bea’s and mini chocolate covered Oreos from Bella’s Bakery complimented the theme and looked and tasted amazing. White pails from Oriental Trading were filled with paper shred from Nashville Wraps and were the perfect display for star cake pops from Cakepops by Rachel.

LUNCH
The Black Hills Gymnastics Center had great picnic bench style tables that we covered in white linens with purple runners. More white pails were filled with shred (Nashville Wraps) and used to house gymnast inspired centerpiece picks on each table. Each place setting was styled with layered lime green and pink polka dotted plates, plus aqua napkin wrapped utensils from Oriental Trading. White gable boxes were filled with healthier snacks such as applesauce cups, granola bars, popcorn and crackers. We packaged them using cute labels from the gymnastics printable collection. Each gable box was decked out in cute themed printable labels and tags, which really helped to tie the theme together. A plain old water bottle was transformed into an “engergy drink” with custom beverage wraps. Each was accented with one of our cute paper straws. We just love how the addition of the printable straw flag looks!

FAVORS
Before guests returned home, each was invited to visit the favor table which was decorated with another oversized printable gymnast and coordinating ribbon banner, reminiscent of the dessert table. Spray painted crates in the party colors served as “shelves” for a variety of fun favors. There were jump ropes with custom favor toppers, ribbon wands, gym bags, suckers with “gold”, “silver” and “bronze” medal inspired labels and our popular candy tubes filled with layered flavors of jelly beans from Jelly Belly Candy Co. We topped these with star labels from the printable gymnastics collection. Guests were thrilled to take home some sweet treats and gymnastics gear for future trips to the gym!

We had so much fun watching our daughter, family members & friends tumble and twirl with our sweet birthday girl!
