YOU GUYS…. this party is so much fun! I had a very hard time narrowing the pictures down, because pretty much everything about it has me WILDLY inspired. ;)

Juliet Boydstun, master of creative party themes and co-founder of The COOP, crafted up a storm for an all out glamorous-meets-playful 2nd birthday party for her daughter Hazel, who you may remember from her groovy + glitzy “Purple Haze” First Birthday that we shared last year. This Wild Heart & FOXY Flower Party is inspired by Hazy’s playful spirit and one of my personal favorites “What does the foxy say?”, so if you need me I’ll be swimming in confetti and crepe paper flower dreams right about now… join me below!

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

– Gorgeous DIY crepe paper flowers adorning everything from the backdrops to the party hats!
– Darling place settings with glitter dipped utensils, confetti party horns, & fox face masks

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Juliet…

THEME
I love coming up with a creative theme… something different and unique.  When it came time for Hazels’ 2nd birthday I wanted something as fun and fabulous as her Purple Haze First Birthday!!  My little lady is super obsessed with dancing to “What does the Fox Say?” — so I knew I had to incorporate foxes somehow.  Straight up foxes felt a wee bit too boy ish for me — so I thought I could  add flowers (I am a firm believer in adding flowers to any party, table, painting, or craft in order to pretty it up!!)  So the FOXY FLOWER Party was born!!

FLOWERS
Ahhh— the flowers…. the flowers were SUCH a labor of love on this one.  I wanted flowers that lasted (in addition to the gorgeous fresh flowers everywhere)  — so I decided I would hand make crepe paper flowers (used the HWTM tutorial on crepe paper roses, in fact).  But of course I wanted LOTS of flowers — flowers on all the party hats, flowers on the cake,  flowers on the big number 2, flowers on the foxy Pinata centerpiece, and OF COURSE I NEEDED to make hand made paper flower crowns for all the girls.  My goodness — I was buried in paper flower making for at least 5 weeks leading up to the party!  I don’t think I could do it again — but I am glad I did it this once!!!

BACKDROP + PLACEMATS
Besides the flowers — my other favorite element of the party was the Red, orange and pink tissue paper painted backdrops for the main party space (at the COOP the greatest party venue around!!) and the outdoor eating table.  My son Grant and I rolled a 30 foot long piece of watercolor paper onto our sloped driveway and — just like you do in Kindergarten — we placed tissue paper pieces all over the paper and sprayed it with water so it bled onto the paper.  I am CRAZY about how it turned out!  I made placemats for the tables with the same technique.  Love love love the look of them.

CONFETTI
Now — I LOVE glitter — don’t get me wrong — but I am a bit on a glitter overload these days.  Feeling like I’ve kind of done glitter to death (last years bDay party was a gold glitter extravaganza!!)  I was in search of a new fun crafty bit to run though the party — and I came upon the idea of CONFETTI!  Nothing says PARTY like confetti!  I mixed up paper and mylar confetti and added it to wire halo crowns, paper hats,  champagne glasses. paper cups, blowers…basically anywhere that I would normally glitter — I confetti-ed instead.  Lots of fun confetti at the make your own lemonade or Mimosa bar – fruity fun festive cocktails for all ages! Julie from Blue Cupcake did the gorgeous cake and macaroons – she’s such an artist!  Truly amazing.

NECKLACES
I also made the leather strap necklaces out of wild animal figurines and some fun beads.  Hazy went a little wild and tried to wear just about all of them herself.  2 year olds are kind of known for being a bit wild and unruly — so while I was working on all the goodies I also came to  “Stay Wild” as kind of a theme as well — so that appears on the masks and on the wall in a few places!   I  feel like we’d all be better off if we held on to our wild child inside — and I certainly hope my sweet girl stays wild and reckless and fun for as long as possible.  I can’t help but adore the reckless abandon and glee that my sweet  little lady Hazy exhibits every day.  Love her — hoping she stays wild in all the best ways possible and I get to witness and join her for as much of the wild ride as she’ll let me!

Very creative and wild. I love how you put together the stripes and flowers with elements of gold to create that “crazy” wild look. It looks like lots of fun!
