How to Make Grilled BBQ Chicken Flatbread Pizza {Video} + Free Farmer’s Market Party Printables

Grilled BBQ Chicken Flatbread Pizza Tutorial

Have you ever tried grilling flatbread directly on the BBQ? There’s something so great about seeing those beautiful grill marks on the bread…especially when you’ve made them yourself!

Grilling flatbread is surprisingly quick to do, but there are definitely a few small-yet-impactful tricks that will make the process a LOT easier – and I’m speaking from personal trial and error here! I recently teamed up with Krusteaz® to create a little video tutorial that highlights some of these helpful flatbread grilling tips, which you can watch below. Pay special attention to the method of oiling the grill and the style of baking pan used to get the dough on and off the grill grates… it’s a life saver. ;)

The video features a Grilled BBQ Chicken Flatbread Pizza using one of the brand new Krusteaz Flatbread Mixes (in the Garlic and Onion flavor), which makes it super easy to whip up the dough. This simple recipe is a tried-and-true favorite in my book, but of course you can change up the toppings on your own grilled flatbread however you like!

Free Farmer’s Market Party Printables + Weber Grill Giveaway

Another fun idea for grilling your own flatbread is to set up a little “Flatbread Social” station with all sorts of fresh toppings, then let your dinner guests create their own personal sized flatbread pizzas using their favorite toppings.

And… inspired by this fresh toppings idea, I also designed some Farmer’s Market Inspired Party Printables to go along with it! Scroll down to check them out, along with a few coordinating DIY party ideas like cut burlap “placemats”, kraft bag utensil holders, and a quick & easy veggie centerpiece that packs a very HEALTHY dose of color. ;)

You’ll find the download links for the printables at the bottom of the post, along with info on a Weber Grill Sweepstakes that you won’t want to miss!

He’s at the 30…the 20…the 10…TOUCHDOWN!! Valerie Gimre of Charming Touch Parties styled DOUBLE the fun for her “Gametime!” Twin Boys’ Football Birthday Party! The whole day was centered around the big game — Alex’s team vs. Jack’s team in a flag football match. I love that the color palette focuses on the team colors rather than the traditional green & brown, everything would be so cute for a Super Bowl party! I’m sure both teams went home happy with dirt on their knees & cake in their bellies :).

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • Chalkboard style, flag decorated printables + matching cookies & ‘penalty flag’ yellow napkins

Playful Puppy and Kitten 2nd Birthday Party

puppy and kitty party decor ideas

Meow! Woof! All pets are welcome here :). Louisa Kopp from the adorable blog, Ice Cream off Paper Plates, styled this equally adorably Playful Puppy and Kitten 2nd Birthday Party for her son’s big day! Louisa put lots of love into this party, creating all of the food & sweets, the invitation AND just about every bit of decor! Using lots of yarn, newspapers, stamps and other common items was a super clever way for her to get the most out of similar things (i.e. yarn balls, yarn wrapped letters, yarn banners, etc.) and probably stay on budget! That’s what I call the cat’s meow ;).

We here at HWTM are pretty big fans of football, so you can imagine our excitement when Britni Vigil of Play. Party. Pin. offered to share the recipe for her “Better than Football” Chocolate Cake with us! I think it’s safe to say, we are now also fans of the chocolate caramel combo! ;)

“This cake is inspired by one that a volleyball teammate of mine and I made years ago. I thought it would be fun to recreate it for our pseudo sports themed party. It’s really simple and includes only five ingredients!”

Football parties can be such a fun way to get into the game — with yummy snacks, team decor and a house full of excited friends! But for Britni Vigil of Play. Party. So as a last indulgent hurrah, she threw this Chocolate is Better than Football Girls’ Party filled with everything chocolate, including lots of her favorite — Snickers!

As an added bonus, Britni is generously sharing the recipe for her “Better than Football” Chocolate Cake (a bold statement, but I can’t really imagine anything better than the perfect chocolate cake). {New Series} Parties in a Pinch: First Birthday

parties in a pinch: quick and easy first birthday party

{Quick Note from HWTM} We are thrilled to have Rachel Scott from RV Parties here today as our newest guest contributor, kicking off an exciting new series — Parties in a Pinch! It’s easy to feel a lot of pressure to put together a Pinterest-perfect event and then become overwhelmed by the planning process. Rachel’s advice will equip you with some tips and tricks to help you pull off a special, memorable party — in a pinch! Take it away, Rachel…

One of my favorite sayings is: It can be good, cheap or fast, but it can’t be all three. This can definitely be applied to party planning!

This series will highlight how to throw a party that’s GOOD and either fast or cheap. (If you figure out how to throw party that’s all 3 — let me know!) First up? A good party that’s FAST. (For the sake of this post, we’re going to assume that a good party is one that has a bit of the wow-factor and makes the guest of honor feel celebrated.)

first birthday party decor and signs

My baby turned one a few days after we moved cross country. As a party planner, I couldn’t bear to miss the chance to celebrate him, but our house was in shambles and there wasn’t time to put together a huge bash like I normally would. The most important thing? Celebrating this sweet boy and a full year with him. And the other most important thing — getting a few pictures so that he’ll know he’s loved when he’s big enough to care!

Make sure to read below for some tips on how you too can put together a fast, memorable party.

Operation Shower “Baby Liberty” Event Recap!

DIY hot air balloon centerpieces

A couple months ago I flew across the country to Jersey City for the “Baby Liberty” Operation Shower event – a vintage Americana style baby shower that I styled in collaboration with Operation Shower‘s Amy Belle Isle.

With nearly 200 guests, a beautiful waterside venue, and all 3 Kardashian sisters co-hosting alongside Babies R Us, this was quite a production! It also took a small village of fellow “party girls” and volunteers that generously donated their talents and time to bring the event to life on this level – so a special thank you again to everyone that helped. :)

In all honesty, I was a little worried about tackling the vintage Americana look at first, as my style naturally leans very modern, but in the end I loved how it turned out! One of my favorite challenges was trying to come up with playful “on theme” phrases when designing the table signs – i.e. “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Naptime” (so true, right?!) – and “Give me Hugs or give me Kisses” – which is much more powerful when you think it in a Patrick Henry style tone. ;)

P.S. The Americana Baby Shower Collection is now available in our Hostess INK store too!

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • DIY hot air balloon centerpieces made from paper lanterns, dowels, & ribbon
  • Eclectic mix of bottles + gorgeous patriotic florals (I just LOVE that blue thistle!)
  • Pregnant wire form centerpieces dressed up with fabric rosettes & sashes
  • Giant confetti balloons with fabric tassels + hand-painted burlap table runners
  • Vintage bow cake pops, incredible royal icing cookies, & more amazing treats!

Family-Friendly Flatbread Tacos Recipe {+ Fiesta Inspired Decor & Free Printables!}

krusteaz flatbread taco recipes

Happy Thursday! I’ve got some fun news to share with you guys today about a different sort of project we’ve been quietly working on over here for the past couple months! ;)

Krusteaz® recently asked me to collaborate with them on a creative campaign starring their brand new Flatbread Mixes. The creative concepting & prep work has been happening for a while, and then a few weeks ago their team came to our house and shot a handful of DIY videos that will be released intermittently over the next several months. Each video has a totally different theme and features a simple, yet tasty flatbread recipe (who says everything we eat needs to be super complicated, right?!) + matching party decor ideas and DIY projects. Oh ya… can’t forget to mention the free printables too. :)

Theme #1 – Flatbread Tacos + Fiesta Inspired Fun!

I’m excited to share the first video with you today, which is centered around a family-friendly taco night with a creative twist. The Flatbread Tacos recipe is very straightforward (& super tasty!), but seeing it in video form should give you a good understanding of how to work with the flatbread dough. At the bottom of this post, you’ll also find links to the DIY decor projects and free party printables. I hope you enjoy them!

P.S. I’d also like to say a special thank you to Krusteaz® – it’s been an honor to work with such a wonderful company, and I look forward to working with them again next week at the IFBC!

My inspiration for the fiesta tablescape started with what looks like the “table runner” – but is actually a $14 scarf from Target! I just loved the color palette of the scarf, which ended up setting the tone the entire table and the printables as well. I also never pass up the chance to break out the aqua blue mason jars. ;)

Washi tape and tissue fringe were my other key element – they dressed up everything from tin cans and bottles to the DIY cork placemats!

DIY Washi Tape and Cork Tile Placemats with Tissue Fringe

This is one of those projects that was kind of a happy accident, but it’s so fun & easy that I already know it’s going to become a staple in my bag of party tricks!

While “inspiration shopping” for our recent Fiesta party theme, I stumbled on a 4-pack of cork tile squares for less than $7 at Target. I already had a bunch of colorful washi tape in my basket, and suddenly Washi Tape Cork Tile Placmats just felt like a match made in {crafty party} heaven! And because fringed tissue paper was already the plan for the party garlands and centerpieces, we added tissue to a couple of the placemat designs too. I do feel like the fringe-y ones feel extra fiesta-like. ;)

Since the instructions for this DIY project are basically “buy cork tiles and decorate with washi tape + other (optional) crafty elements”, I’m just going to let a few images do the rest of the talking… enjoy!

This next design is probably my personal favorite… I just like the off-center design & mix of so many different colors! I also accented it with some flat metal studs I found lying around:
