Ariel Inspired Ombre Little Mermaid Party {Teal & Purple}

Ariel Inspired Ombre Little Mermaid Party {Teal & Purple}

“Darling it’s better, down where it’s wetter, take it from me!” Ashley Keith of Cupcake Express definitely brought the “under the sea” lifestyle to the shore with this Ombre Ariel Inspired Mermaid Party for her adorable daughter, Tessa. All the little mermaids dined on a purple & teal dessert table filled with super cute, sea-inspired treats like gumball ‘pearl’ clamshells and seashell topped chocolate covered Oreos – both displayed on a bed of brown sugar ‘sand’, of course! ;)

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

– Clever DIY floating jellyfish & tissue pom dessert table backdrop
– Clam shell & seahorse lollipops, spot-on Ariel cookies, & mermaid tail topped cupcakes
– Beautiful scale and sea shell covered mermaid tier cake
– Adorable teal & purple printables + a teal and purple tutu skirt for the birthday girl

PARTY DETAILS as told by Ashley
:

My Daughter Tessa loves The Little Mermaid so this year, we decided to do an Ariel Inspired Mermaid Party! We stuck with purple and teal colors throughout the party. I designed some Ariel inspired Mermaid printables and from there we started planning! I ordered her adorable ruffle table cloth from Sew What Grandma, which really topped off our dessert table. We used the purple table cloth from my oldest daughter’s rockstar party as it was perfect color of purple for the back drop. We also made some cute ribbon jelly fish to hang from the backdrop. The kids loved them and they were so easy to make, all you need is some paint, glitter, paper bowls & different kinds of ribbon. To finish off the back drop we used some pretty paper poms on each side.

Now for the dessert table (always my favorite part of a party). The amazing mermaid cookies were from Pea Pods Cookies. My daughter couldn’t stop staring at her Ariel cookies and kept saying “I just love these, they are too cute to eat!” We made vanilla cupcakes and used half with our printable toppers and cupcake wrappers and the other half we used the cutest fondant mermaid fins from Top My Cupcake. I bought some white chocolate covered Oreos at my local grocery store and added some frayed flowers and chocolate seashells that we made from our Wiltons candy mold. We wrapped mini chocolate Hershey bars in our Ariel inspired printables and placed them on lavender mini chocolate balls. We got some really cute seahorse & clam shell lollipops from Candid Cakes. The Mermaid cake was made by me! With lots inspiration from Pinterest, I had to come to the reality that I had to stop searching because there are some amazing mermaid cakes out there, but I am no cake pro at all (so don’t look too close)! I did the bottom layer to look like fish scales, put a purple ribbon, a big starfish and some seashells on the middle layer, and put some of the leftover chocolate seashells and a fondant 6 on top. My daughter was in love with her cake so I was happy. I also put some cute white plastic clam shells on brown sugar (to look like sand) and added some pink gumball pearls inside. Lastly, I made some white glass pedestal bowls — I got glass candle sticks and some small bowls from the Dollar Store, glued them together, and spray painted them white. We added Hershey kisses to one and some teal rocks and shells to the other. Such a cheap way to dress up and add fillers to your table.

As for my daughters outfit, I waited too long and didn’t get her a cute ariel shirt, so we ended up just doing a white shirt and dressing it up with a cute chunky bubble gum necklace from Girly Girlz Boutique, along with her matching flower headband also from Girly Girlz Boutique. To complete her outfit we got her a purple & teal tutu from Cupcake Express.
