Apple Pie Pops & Sparkling Harvest Punch {Low Sugar!}

apple pie pops recipe with NECTRESSE

Hello from the BIG APPLE! I’m here for a couple days to work on a project with NECTRESSE® Natural No Calorie Sweetener, who I’ve teamed up with this holiday season to develop and share some creative holiday entertaining tips, including recipe ideas that are sweet like we love, but also lower in sugar! That’s exactly what NECTRESSE is about – it’s made from a perfect blend of natural sweeteners and monk fruit extract, so it sweetens things up without all the extra calories of sugar.

And speaking of apples, one of my favorite recipes (which I’ll actually be sharing with some news and morning programs today) is Cinnamon Apple Pie Pops Recipe, which is pictured above. These little pops are so cute and make for a great homemade holiday gift idea or addition to a holiday dessert spread. If you’ve never made pie pops before, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how easy they are!

The other recipe I’m excited to share today is a Sparkling Harvest Punch, which is made with spiced tea, cinnamon, a variety of juices and fruit. Club soda adds a lot of sparkle and allows us to cut back significantly on the amount of juice used, and NECTRESSE sweetens it without all the extra calories of added sugar! This recipe is really tasty and kind of feels like a non-alcoholic sangria, so it’s a great option for the whole family… but of course you can easily turn it into a festive cocktail for adult guests by simply adding a splash of spiced rum!

Scroll down for the recipes, and if you’re interested in learning more about NECTRESSE or curious about what the heck monk fruit is, you can find out right here. :) (more…)

Bar Cart Party Styling Tips + {Simple!} Spiced Fall Cocktail

bar cart styling for a fall party cocktail

While sitting in a restaurant having cafe in Vegas a couple years ago, I noticed a server pushing a bar cart around the restaurant that was filled with lots of different ingredients for mixing up a Bloody Mary or Mimosa to your liking. I remember thinking how a “mini mobile bar” like that would be such a fantastic element for a party too…. simply because it would add an element of out-of-the-ordinary FUN!

Well, I’m finally trying out a version of this idea myself, using a cool Wood and Brass Finish Bar Cart from Target. The concept is not exactly the same idea as what I first had in mind that day in the restaurant… because my house is about a football field or so smaller than that Encore cafe + has a couple stairs between all the rooms on the bottom floor, so “pushing a cart around the party” isn’t exactly super practical. ;) I still love the idea of having a mini bar station with a special drink in an unexpected spot that’s set apart from the rest of the drinks though – even if it needs to stay in one place! Added bonus – bar carts will double as fantastic home decor before and after your parties (styled up however you like)… and I’m pretty sure they’d be extra SWEET as the foundation for mini dessert stations too!

Since fall holidays are in the air right now, I decided to start with a simple & festive fall party look here +  a signature drink that’s perfect for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, not to mention so easy it’s almost ridiculous. (which I’m pretty sure is a good thing!) Here are some easy tips on how to pull this look together:

DIY metallic gold confetti

This cart is already pretty on its own, but I felt like it needed a detail added that definitively yelled “PARTY!”. The solution? Metallic paper circles punched from a sheet of gold scrapbook paper. I used glue dots to adhere them to the cart in random spots for a look reminiscent of giant gold confetti. (And yes, I’m already thinking this needs to reappear for a New Year’s Eve champagne toast too!)

spiced fall cocktail menu sign free printable from hwtm

It goes without saying that a bar cart should have a great drink to boast! And not only that – it should be the star of the show. I chose a super simple, yet tasty fall cocktail featuring spiced rum, sparkling apple cider, and pomegranate juice, then designed a quick signature drink sign to give guests instructions on how to mix it up. You can download the sign for free right here if you’d like to use it too! (more…)

Playful Fox Inspired Hot Chocolate Bar {+ Free Printables!}

playful fox inspired hot chocolate station

I was recently asked to dream up some fall entertaining inspiration incorporating a few items from Targetokay, twist my arm! ;)  I wanted to have a little fun with this, and my mind instantly jumped to some fox themed items that had caught my eye earlier this month while shopping in-store: a wooden fox figural (that was just screaming for a few embellishments!) and a cool wood serving tray with brass fox handles. SO, I decided it would be fun to design a Playful Fox Inspired Hot Chocolate Station that could work for any sort of fall celebration, as well as for kids and grown ups alike.

Of course, every time I hear the word “fox” lately, the song What Does The Fox Say by Ylvis instantly plays in my head! My little ones are constantly asking for it lately thanks to this {seriously amazing!} Halloween Lights Show video on YouTube. I realize that if you’re not familiar with this song, the choice of words I used on the 8×10 party sign might seem a little strange… so now you know the inspiration behind them. :) And for those of you that are familiar with this song and get it stuck in your head lately like me, I’m including a special 2nd variation of the (free) “talk bubble” printables below that includes some of the actual lyrics from the song! ;) You can also see this variation pictured in last 2 table shots below.

Anyways, I hope you have some fun with these ideas and get inspired to set up a hot chocolate bar of your own this season! Scroll down for more images and details + links to the products that inspired this project.
