DIY Tutorial: Crepe Paper Carrots

crepe paper and tissue paper carrot diy tutorial

With only a few simple materials like your household glue gun + scissors, these Crepe Paper Carrots (as seen in my daughter’s Snow Bunny First Birthday) are super simple and would be a creative addition to any Bunny Rabbit Theme or Easter Party! We used them as frame embellishments, as part of the dessert table backdrop, on sticks “sprouting” from mason jars, and scattered around the house for accent decor, but you can use them however you like! ;)

Robot Baby Shower for Pottery Barn Kids

robot baby shower centerpiece idea

I’m so excited to share the Robot Baby Shower theme that I styled for Pottery Barn Kids with you today – which they’ve playfully dubbed “Bundle of Bots”! Best news of all? This one comes with FREE downloads of all the robot party printables that I designed for this shoot. Enjoy!

Everything is covered in detail over on the PBK website – from how-to info on each of the party details to recipes for the super easy “Spare Parts” Pasta Salad and “Nuts & Bolts” Snack Mix. Here’s a screenshot from PBK:

Robot Mom + Baby Bot

The felt “mom” robot pictured above was probably my personal favorite detail from this theme… she was inspired by a plush robot toy I’d seen… but being the non-seamstress I am (sigh…), I needed to figure out an easier way to make a cute robot that didn’t require sewing. The solution? Empty gift boxes covered in (hot glued) felt! Yarn, buttons, and bamboo skewer “antennas” were used to add pops of cuteness and color.

Snow Cone Cupcakes {Simple & Sweet}

how to make snow cone cupcakes

I fell in love with the Snow Cone Cupcakes craze when it hit last year and was super excited to finally have an excuse to make them (for my daughter’s Snow Bunny First Birthday Party last month). Scroll down for the how-to details on these quick & easy treats – which happen to work well for both winter OR summer parties – think luaus, beach themes, etc. These would even be cute for Valentine’s Day… covered in pink and red sugar or simply garnished with pretty heart straws!

“There’s no crying over spilled milk,” at this absolutely amazing Operation Shower “Baby Bistro” Event that I was honored to be a part of this past October! It was such an uplifting & heart-warming event, generously sponsored by Babies R Us, for the military moms to celebrate their babies bistro style …and to take home tons of “pub prizes” & baby necessities of course! For more deliciously sweet details, check out the Baby Bistro Dessert Table. :)

“Baby Bistro” Baby Shower Theme + Printables

Bold patterns, vibrant colors, and whimsical, baby inspired elements made for a bright & happy ambiance at the event. I loved working with Amy (Operation Shower’s Chief Event Planner) to create playful table centerpieces like “Spilled Milk,” featuring an elephant maître d’ serving sippy cups – and “Eat Your Veggies,” featuring baby bottles turned into carrots served up by a bow-tie bedecked bunny! ;) Watercolor splatters, black & white stripes, and chalkboard textures brought a fun spin on the classic bistro style. If you’d like to use this theme for your own baby shower, find it in Hostess Ink here!

{My Daughter’s} Snow Bunny First Birthday Party

snow buny first birthday party decorations, smash cake, and printables

Last month, my youngest daughter turned one, and you can probably guess what that means…party time! ;) We somehow started calling her “bunny”, so because of that nickname and the fact that she has a winter birthday, I thought it would be fun to create a “Snow Bunny” theme for her first birthday party. I realize that the idea of carrots and bunny tails mixed in with a “snowy” themed birthday might sound a little random at first, but it ended up coming together in the end, with a little help from themed food and crafty decorations. ;)

pink and orange winter bunny birthday party decorations

And speaking of the party coming together, I have to confess that despite my best intentions to not be last minute with everything like I was with Macy’s first birthday, I again found myself starting on it within the few days before the party – and finishing up the paper designs oh… about 1.5 hours before! The responsibilities that have come with 2 young kids (ages 1 and 2) + a growing business seem to have me in a constant battle with the clock… and one that the clock usually wins. (grrr) I know many of you can relate though, and I’ve started to accept that it’s just the way things are going to be for the next couple years. All I have to say is thank goodness for friends & family willing to help out in a pinch (including my mother & father-in-law who made most of the food for the party!).

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

– Bunny shaped grilled cheese, snow cone cupcakes, and rice krispie “snow balls”
– DIY painted mason jars filled with cotton ball (“bunny tail”) flowers + balsa wood flowers
– Crepe paper carrots & bunny wreath + “bunny” kids chair with cotton tail & foam ears
– Homemade smash cake with paper-and-stripy-straw cake topper
– Pics of the birthday girl embellished with winter hat and other “snowy” graphics
