Cinco de Mayo Girls Night + Sauza Tequila Video Shoot

cinco de mayo party ideas - adults

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO! This post originally went live a couple weeks ago, but I couldn’t resist bumping it up to the top for today. Hope you’re enjoying margaritas with friends & family somewhere today…. cheers! :)

(original post) I have something fun to share with you today that’s definitely a departure from the norm… and I really hope it leaves you feeling INSPIRED to call up some friends and host a similar get together of your own. Inspiring celebration is definitely the most important takeaway from this experience – and the goal in sharing it – so I wanted to make sure to mention that tidbit up front. :)

SO… with that in mind, I’m excited to share a video that I participated in recently, followed by some behind the scenes on the video shoot itself, and helpful takeaways for planning your own Cinco de Mayo party (or anytime fiesta)! As a huge fan of Mexican food AND margaritas myself, I’m pretty much game for this kind of theme year ’round! How about you?

So to give you some background, a couple weeks ago I headed up to LA for a video shoot with some of my fellow Glam Media bloggers. I knew it sounded like it would be a cool experience based on the creative brief, but I still wasn’t 100% sure what to expect.

What it ended up being – was an insanely fun night of ‘”Besos and Margaritas“, with Sauza Tequila and a fabulous group of women bloggers you may already be familiar with: Jenny from Good, Bad, & Fab, Jillian of Catch My Party, Marisa of Margaritas in the Rain, Christi of Love from the Oven, and Candice from Fashionably Organized!

Sauza Blue Video Shoot - Party Guests

Everyone was so warm and welcoming, which instantly made for a great start to the shoot. Some of us were meeting in person for the first time, but by the end of the night (which wrapped close to midnight), everyone felt like old friends. It’s funny how a few hours of bonding over similar work/life experiences – and a few refills of margaritas – can do that! (more…)

NEW Monthly Call For Submissions! {+ Guidelines}

hwtm call for submissions

Hi Everyone! I’m excited to share that this month we’re kicking off a new monthly Call for Submissions. We get so many submissions already that you may call us crazy for requesting more… BUT, in our continuous effort to deliver the best – and timeliest – content to our readers throughout the year, we thought it would be smart to actually give you a little heads up regarding what’s on the horizon for the editorial calendar!

And while we normally require some exclusivity for our standard submissions, when it comes to the featured Call for Submissions topic each month, No Exclusivity is required! Feel free to submit past work or parties that have previously been featured elsewhere, in addition to brand new parties, recipes, DIY tutorials, etc… it’s a big world out there and chances are good there’s a whole new crop of people your work can inspire! We 100% encourage any and all ideas, from the big to the small. Sometimes, simple ideas can be even more approachable and far reaching than an over-the-top bash… but of course we don’t shy away from those either! ;)

We’ll be having a “Call For Submissions” on the first of every month. For the following months, check our social media outlets for the announcement: HWTM Social Community, Facebook, Google +Pinterest and Twitter. (more…)

Trend Alert: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Party

teenage mutant ninja turtles party ideas

Tonya Coleman here from Soireé Event Design, and I’m back with a brand new series “Trend Alert” where I share with you some of the hottest trends in party planning and give you my twist on how to use it in your next party!  Today’s guest post is all about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I know, I know, you’re thinking…THEY’RE BACK??? YES! My 10 year old daughter Faith requested a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party this year and I had to do a double-take! My 16 year old son used to LOVE TMNT when he was little! They are making a HUGE comeback right now and are fast becoming a very popular kid’s party theme!

One problem… kids are requesting this theme before Nickelodeon has caught on and made any party supplies available, so what is a parent to do? How do you decorate your party space when there are no TMNT party supplies out there? I must admit, this is my FAVORITE part of party planning! Coming up with creative ways to interpret a character themed party WITHOUT USING ANY traditional character party supplies and by making some of the decor yourself! It’s really easy if you follow my 5 steps! (more…)

I’ve been sharing my MADHOUSE by Michael Aram inspired tablescapes with you all week long, and now it’s YOUR turn to showcase what you would dream up!

We’re going to make it a lot easier on you though – all you need to do is create a Pinterest board of your dream table ideas and submit it here. No photo shoots or real life staging required… at least by you! Someone else might fall in love with your board and bring it to life one day though. ;)

Include at least 3 MADHOUSE products in your pinboard and whatever else your party-loving heart desires – from food and drink ideas to flowers, coordinating outfits, stationery etc. This is a really easy way to get creative, so have some fun with it!

I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with and will be helping with the contest judging. The Grand Prize winner and 2 Runner Ups will all be featured both here at HWTM and over at MADHOUSE after the contest, not to mention receiving some amazing prizes! (more…)

Celebrating Everyday Moments: Making Dinnertime = Quality Time {+ Free Inspirational Printables!}

quality family time at dinner - HWTM

I have a confession to make. When it comes to family dinnertime I’m not exactly “queen of the kitchen” at this point in life. To be perfectly frank, what I usually am at dinnertime is: exhausted. Round-the-clock job, 3 year old, 1 year old, basic life upkeep, etc… I’m pretty sure the culprits are in that list somewhere, and they’re doing a fabulous job at handcuffing my inner Top Chef.

That’s not to say I don’t plan on changing this reality one day (because I do!) …but the thing that’s most helpful for me at dinnertime these days is: shortcuts. And I should probably throw in that Sonny  – who’s represented here behind the camera – is actually a really great cook, but his list looks a lot like mine lately, so we often rely on family meals that are quick or ready-made.

kids helping with dinner

And speaking of ready-made, a brand name that I’m personally very familiar with  – Annie’s  – came through my inbox recently with a request to try out their new line of Rising Crust Pizzas. Did you know they made pizzas?

I say “familiar” because we already consume Annie’s Bunny Grahams and Snack Mix galore over here, the majority of which is consumed by yours truly… even though whenever I buy them I’m thinking, “snacks for the kids!“. I feel like I might use that justification semi-often for things I really want to eat myself. Another confession. ;) Do you ever do that?
