Whimsical woodland parties are all the rage right now — which I am loving! Khaliah Bibson of The Party Muse pulled out all the stops for this Modern & Vibrant Woodland Birthday Party for 3 year-old Olivia. The true star of the show (besides the birthday girl of course) was the incredible Owl Cake, surrounded by his forest friends. How adorable is that little hedgehog?! Strewn petals and pinecones kept the woodsy feel going, while contrasting nicely with bright colors and modern patterns.
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
– Marbled Meringue “Acorns”, “Wild Berry” Marshmallows, and fondant toadstools
– Party hats with glittery leaves + mossy centerpieces trimmed with eyelet lace
– “Olivia’s Corner” kids play area with woodsy mushroom lamps & colorful fabric
– Seriously cute plush animal party favors for the kids + mini jam jars for the adults!
PARTY DETAILS as told by Khaliah…
I had so much putting together this Woodland themed third birthday for my client. The setting was Kaia Wine Bar in NYC which is very quaint and rustic already but I knew I had to really make it more of a kid friendly place to make it appropriate for the setting of this third birthday. The color pallet was to be red, brown, and green and I chose to punch it up with some lime green and purple to make it a little more vibrant for the kids. We did a dessert table, kids seating, as well as a kids play area which had some additional seating for the adults.
The kids tables were covered in eyelet table covers and red tulle runners. The centerpieces were wooden canisters that I purchased at a warehouse sale, not knowing at the time what I would do with them. I finished them with lace trim and added the berry branches, moss, and forest animals. I had the centerpieces accented with printable signs that also matched the heart shaped chair decor I had designed for this event.
In the play area, we covered the seat cushions to match the fabric used on the dessert table, added some mushroom shaped lights and plenty of items for the kids to play with. The Mushroom Lamps were a total SCORE from Home Goods on clearance! By far my favorite of any party score to date! The room decor was kept simple with just a few clear balloons filled with red rose petals, heart shaped balloons, and a few banners.
In addition to the bubble machine and play dough for entertainment, we had custom woodland coloring pages, puzzles, owl shaped crayons, and blocks. Favors for the adults were mini jam jars with a recipe for “Toast N’ Jam” and the kids walked about with berry baskets filled with beanie babies, crayons, coloring pages, and bubbles.
