PARTY DETAILS, as told by Sally…

Inspiration

For my son’s 2nd birthday party, it was a given that we would celebrate with food, lots of food!  He loves to eat and it was only natural to throw a party inspired by one of the world’s most renowned chefs, Thomas Keller. Of course we needed to keep it fun so that’s when Ratatouille came to mind.  Here’s an interesting article explaining how Chef Keller and Pixar teamed up to make Ratatouille.

Cake & Dessert Bar

Most of the food/desserts were made with love at home and supplemented with store bought items to keep true to Gusteau’s message from the movie…”Anyone can cook!”  Store bought vanilla bean cupcakes were detailed with fondant chef’s hats, mustaches, and rolling pins from Sweeten Your Day.  The Nutella mousse cups were finished off with marshmallows and paper mustaches cut by a Silhouette Cameo.  The birthday cake was also finished off with mini marshmallows and topped with a Ratatouille figurine bought on Amazon.

Tablescape

Napkins were personalized with iron on characters from Ratatouille.  The menus were a DIY project that was tied simply with cooking twine, a sprig of fresh rosemary from our garden, and a bon appetite printable tag from Eat Drink Chic.  Centerpieces were potted herbs bought from our local nursery, mason jars filled with assorted whole nuts to hold individual tea lights, and even Remy in a jar bought from Ikea!

Koda’s party wear

We dressed Koda in his very own pint sized chef’s coat, chef’s hat, and kitchen apron also purchased on Amazon.
