PARTY DETAILS, as told by Kelli
;

This event was started off as a request from one of Jean’s granddaughters. She wanted to do something really nice and sweet for her grandmother that would include the family home and family members. She had seen a few of our events on facebook and contact us about creating a theme and event for her grandmother. I jumped at the opportunity to do something special for her grandmother because my grandmother is around her grandmother’s age and it’s so special to be able to celebrate with them at this season of their lives.

I was searching around to find inspiration when I saw a blue mason jar online. I had already been told that blue was Jean’s favorite color so it was a perfect match! I found a fabulous vendor on etsy, Treats by Trish, who actually made mason jar cookies that said “Having a Ball since 1923″ and that sealed the deal!  I

decided to use all different shades of blue for her party.  I wanted the guests to feel special too, considering that her circle of friends would be there to celebrate with her.  I used the blue mason jars and customized them with ribbon and embellishments to make them beautiful.  I used white peonies and baby breath to create a sweet and vintage floral arrangement, using mason jars and ribbon as well. It was simply gorgeous! I used some white picture frames I already had to include some great quotes about birthdays and getting older.  I used a table runner and silk napkins that I had previously found at Pier One and we used the plates and cutlery that they already at the family home. For the placecards, I simply attached a glittered clothes pin to a gift tag and it worked!

The welcome sign was designed by another etsy artisan, The Tickled Teal Paperie. I contacted my favorite baker, Tayari Jones of Tayari! for some beautiful and delicious cupcakes. The custom cookies were done by Treats by Trish. The homemade poundcake was done by one of favorite church family members, Lilly. And the added sweet bonus was a few chocolate covered strawberries from Sweet Stuff by Celita.

I really wanted the family to be able to remember old times and to create a conversation piece, I got Jean’s son to collect several photos for me. I attached them to some balloons and it was breathtakingly gorgeous! The family really enjoyed looking at the photos.  It was an awesome event!

This is a joke! This isn’t something you “dreamed up” you stole this exact idea and exact cookie display from Gretchen of Three Little Monkeys Studio. You are in the business, you should know better. You should be ashamed!

No sweetheart! You, your obvious illiteracy, and that brain of yours is the joke. The blogger came up with the term “dreamed”, not me. That should be clearly understood from READING the post. I stated on my comments, very clearly that the idea started with a blue mason jar I wanted to use. When I found treats by trish, SHE had she mason jar cookies that said “Having a Ball…”. It’s okay. Everyone has their flaws and lucky for you, yours can be solved easily with practice and a few good interventions. Lastly, I’m not sure if you are in business yourself or if you’re merely the hype girl but if you are in business, you should realize that everyone is not looking at you or your company and not everyone even knows about it. The “three little monkeys” studio you referenced when you left this garbage on my fb page is new to me. I do this for fun, for the creativity, and to see other people smile…not to make money so if you see my company as a potential threat, I understand but we’re not in it for that at all. Ideas are God given and then he leads you to others who help fine tune them, add to them, and “seal the deal”! Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Mary! I actually received that cupcake stand as a wedding present. I want to say it came from Dillard’s. I’m no baker by far but since you’re interested, I’ll let the baker, Tayari, know about it and maybe she’ll be interested in doing a tutorial. If she does, I’ll post it. Thanks and good luck!

http://www.karaspartyideas.com/2012/06/having-a-ball-mason-jar-90th-birthday-party.html. I instantly recognized the cookies and remembered seeing it. I actually thought I saw it on this exact blog, which made me wonder why they’d post something so similar.

Anyway, there’s nothing wrong with finding inspiration on the internet (provided it’s not copyrighted). But I did find the snarky response to the other commenter to be decidedly unprofessional and unladylike.
