Retro Rainbow Baby Shower {Part 1 – Table & Decor}

retro rainbow baby shower

So….. I’m extra excited to share this post because it’s been LONG time coming! This is a theme I designed back in early May – a “Retro Rainbow Baby Shower” with a fun mix of sunshine, rainbows, and throwback inspired elements like retro candy, color blocked gold chargers and DIY sequin-embellished disco baby roller skates, which now double as one of my favorite pieces of office “decor.” ;)

retro rainbow baby shower diaper cake and onesies

Pretty much the very next minute after this project wrapped though… life, work, and [insert all of the above] happened. There just always seemed to be something more pressing to tend to (as is often the case when it comes to “your own” projects… I’m sure many of my fellow creatives can relate), so Retro Rainbow sat patiently in a folder on my Mac, just waiting to one day see the light of day again.

Well… TODAY is that day – so here we go! If you like what you see, you can find the printables right here, and then head over to check out Part 2 of this theme – the dessert table & treats. :)

  • Quilt-batting “cloud” centerpiece + rainbow button “rain drops”
  • A (super easy) alternate centerpiece idea made from printable paper clouds
  • Color-blocked chargers and glasses (made with painter’s tape & spray paint)
  • Party Favors: Retro candy packaged in mini glittered baby bottles with printable flags
  • Chair backs decorated with ribbon & glittery hearts (+ a cloud for mom-to-be’s chair!)

Showered With Love Baby Shower {Part 1: Table & Decor}

pink elephant baby shower decoration

I’m so excited to share this “Showered with Love” Baby Shower theme that we recently created for Huggies! They requested a rain-inspired baby girl shower, so we went with a pink & red palette and featured elements like fluffy felt clouds and raindrops, sequin-embellished umbrellas, a rain boot centerpiece, and a (super easy!) cloud-shaped diaper cake.

To help play up the baby shower aspect of the theme, I also added some cute (spray painted) elephant statues holding paper umbrellas, paper elephants “spraying” heart-shaped raindrops, and pink and red glittered pacifiers.

Check out a detailed overview of the theme right here, and larger images in the HWTM photo albums: Part 1: Tabletop, Decor & Activites and Part 2: Food & Drinks. Note: There are tons of details in this theme (+ 2 themed activity ideas) because I wanted to provide a lot of inspiration, but remember that you can choose to recreate as few or as many as you like – whether it’s just one element or all of them!

I went a little crazy with the design of the paper details on this one because it was such a fun theme to work on! :) And if you want to shower your favorite mom-to-be with love too, you can find this entire printable collection right here in several different color ways for boy, girl, or gender-neutral baby showers! Added bonus: you can download a few additional pink/red printables at the bottom of this post. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page & download at your convenience.

“Spooky Sideshow” Halloween Theme {Red, Black, White}

halloween black and white centerpiece ideas

As someone that adores circus and carnival inspired parties, I was totally drawn to the cool top-hat-wearing skeleton character featured in the centerpiece above. He reminded me of an eerie version of the ringmaster at an old fashioned carnival, and decided to use him as the inspiration for my third HomeGoods Halloween look.

I’ve always wanted to do a “Spooky Carnival” inspired Halloween party that leaned way more “spooky sideshow” than horror-esque, so it was fun to play around with that theme a little and bring parts of it to life with this tablescape and hutch display mockup! The red, black and white palette also lends a playful 40s/flapper vibe that’s a fun change from the traditional Halloween looks. :)

Theme Highlights to look out for:

– “Sideshow” table centerpiece featuring a trio of festive Halloween characters dressed up with bow ties
– bold patterned sheet used as tablecloth + matching pillowcase used as “backdrop” in hutch
– felt bow ties on red soda bottles + napkins folded into bow ties at every other place setting
– Alternating napkins embellished with “squishy skeletons” + red ribbon
– giant ring of vintage skeleton keys (LOVE these!)

The Look For Less: “Bitten” The Gold Trend

gold snow white inspired party

{HWTM contributor Tonya Coleman of Soireé Event Design here}, and I’m back with a “Look for Less” post where I share with you my tips on how you can have a fabulous, high-end looking party for less! Today’s post is all about the GOLD trend! Gold is everywhere—in home decor, on the runways and in party design! No need to go out and purchase lots of gold decor for your next party which can be very pricey!

My “Budget Chic” Tip to get in on this trend for less: GOLD SPRAY PAINT!
Two cans of spraypaint for $7 each totally transformed these inexpensive items into fabulous decor for less:

— 3 artificial apples $3 (Dollar Tree)
— 1 large artificial apple $4 (TJ Maxx)
— Ung Drill frame $29.99 (IKEA)
— candlesticks, metal tissue box, ice bucket $6 (flea market)
— 8 martini glasses $8 (Dollar Tree)

See how I incorporated these inexpensive items into my party design: “Bitten” The Snow White Witch’s Lair, inspired by the glamourous and fashionable witch from the movie “Snow White & The Huntsman”. How fabulous would this be for your upcoming Halloween dinner party!

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

– Snowy white backdrop encrusted with gold spiders and crystals
– Custom glitzy “Bitten” handbags & accessories
– Gold cake pops topped with shiny gold fondant apples
– Scattered “glass” (for some added sparkle!) & apples on gold chandelier pedestal centerpieces
