PARTY DETAILS, as told by Thetis

The party was a combined christening and 1st birthday for Luca. The theme I chose was a “Preppy Polo” party, which took inspiration from Ralph Lauren. We kept the style simple, sophisticated, clean lines and fresh colours of navy blue and dark green.

We had a marquee set up in the yard complete with artificial grass and tables were set up to resemble a polo match luncheon. The tables were draped in gorgeous fitted blue tablecloths and gorgeous bunches of green foliage took center stage. The marquee ceiling was lined with silk, and the we also hung an international flag pennant to set the scene.

We had a little seating area with some cushions which was our pre-drinks and chatting area before lunch was served. The kids also used this area later on for drawing.

For our meal we served up some delicious canapes followed by a scrumptious BBQ lunch. For dessert we enjoyed the birthday cake, cupcake, cookies, macarons and lollies over at our sweets table. The children loved filling their boxes with lollies.

For the kids, I made up little boxes of horse shaped crayons and a mini white sketchbook for them to colour in during the day. I had this in a blue box, lined with some printed green striped paper, adorned it with ralph lauren ribbon and a printable sticker. The kids also enjoyed playing some croquet for kids I had set up on the lawn. They looked gorgeous! Favors/Bonbonierre for the adults were a custom made wood round cut out engraved with the details of the christening/birthday. I hung this on a wooden decorative tree for guests to take as they left.

Luca’s outfit was the cutest of all, of course from Ralph Lauren he wore a shirt, bow tie, their seersucker jacket and some linen trousers and shoes. He looked like a little man, it was adorable.

Fantastic. Where did you find the Ralph Lauren ribbon and horse shaped crayons. My son is having a Polo party for his third birthday.

Thetis SAYS:

Hi Nae,

I purchased the Ralph Lauren ribbon from Ebay (type it in and should come up)
and the crayons were custom made via Etsy. Same thing, just type in horse crayons. Good luck!!
