Vintage Vespa Scooter Inspired Birthday Party

Kim (of Etsy shop On Purpose) used one of my favorite color palettes – orange, lime green & aqua – for her son’s adorable, retro-mod Vintage Vespa Scooter Party. This is one of those parties where I just LOVE every little detail – especially the DIY cake stands & homemade prints with their nostalgic flair! Also smitten with the cool rolled book page wreath embellished with a mini fabric bunting. I’m actually not sure if the wreath is part of the party decor or Kim’s everyday decor, but either way it’s awesome! ;)

PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

– Bunting on the dessert table (using the fabric inspiration!)
– Crayon rolls + CD’s as “Favors for the Road”

DIY Tutorial: Tulip & Curly Willow Centerpieces

diy tutorial for a tulip and willow centerpiece with three varieties

Hi there! It’s Amber here again from Amber Lay Events. This week I have a gorgeous, yet very easy and budget friendly centerpiece idea to share using some of my favorite materials: tulips, curly willow, and rocks! The result? Fresh and earthy floral arrangements with a lot of impact but minimal product – which means money in your pocket… and that’s always a good thing, right?! :)

TULIP & CURLY WILLOW CENTERPIECES

This centerpiece idea has not just 1, but 3 varieties! I always recommend my clients to consider using 2 or 3 variations of their key centerpiece concept at any event. For example, the 3 versions pictured here are unified because each one uses the same materials (yellow tulips, curly willow, clear glass, and rocks). However, the containers vary in size and shape so the look of each version is slightly altered, giving the overall event space a much more interesting look. Have fun recreating these!

The Look For Less: “Ice Age” Movie Inspired Snowball Bar

ice age inspired dessert table

Tonya Coleman here from Soireé Event Design and I’m back with this month’s Look For Less “Budget Chic” guest post where I share with you my tips on how you can have a fabulous, high-end looking event for less! Today’s post is all about how to get in on the party trend- Self Serve Party Bars without breaking the bank. Be sure to click over to my blog, “The Girlfriend’s Guide to Party Planning” to find out where I purchased everything!

Here, I was inspired by this high-end DESIGNER Sweet 16 “Mock-tini” BarI designed for a group of teens recently, to create The Look For Less: Self-Serve Ice Age Inspired Snowball Bar for tweens to celebrate the release of my daughter’s favorite movie: Ice Age Continental Drift!

Self serve bars can range from Drink Bars, Popcorn Bars, Candy Bars and Snack Bars to Craft, Activity and Favor Bars. The idea is to have an impressive looking table that does double duty to offer guests something to do. Remember, self-serve bars should be just that… self serve… so they must look fabulous, but also function well on it’s own. (more…)

yarn wrapped base diy tutorial

Happy Wedding Wednesday everyone! It’s Amber here from Amber Lay Events. This week I’m excited to share another crafty DIY Tutorial featuring yarn wrapped vases.

YARN WRAPPED VASES {& FLOWERS}

If you have any sort of old vase or container that needs sprucing up, try this simple technique to give it a fresh new look. I used yarn here, but you can also use twine for a more rustic look – or even sparkly, glittered ribbon for a more glam effect. I paired the yarn vases with mini dahlias here, but feel free to use your own favorite flowers or even miniature yarn ball “flowers” for a playful touch!
