A Vibrant and “HOP”PY Easter Party

A Vibrant and HOPPY Easter Party

{HWTM contributor Maureen Anders of Anders Ruff here!}  If you like bright happy colors and sweet styling, our most recent shoot might just be what you were “HOP-ing” for in an Easter Party!

Universal Studios recently hired us to design a printable “Hop” (the movie!) themed Easter Party Printable Decor Set to include in all of the “Hop” DVD/Blu-Ray movies sold at Target. (Movie hits shelves 3.23.12)  We styled an Easter party using the printables and are very hoppy to share with you some of the craft and styling ideas that are versatile enough to be used for other themed parties! From the giant homemade gumball machines to the lollipop trees and ruffled mini cupcake pops, the party was full of DIY ideas for decor and desserts.

A Vibrant and HOPPY Easter Party

The printable Easter Decor set is free for download with the special code and download site provided inside the “Hop” Movie at Target for a limited time.  Look for the Anders Ruff logo on marked movies.  The movie is a great Easter basket filler that the kids will enjoy year after year.

“Hop” takes place in the Easter Bunny’s candy factory, so we made sure there were plenty of sweets and elements to remind you of the giant candy factory.

After seeing several tutorials on the web for DIY gumball machines, we knew we could create giant gumball machines to symbolize the giant candy machines in the movie.  Gumballs (Candy Warehouse) filled each machine with the colors that played a big role in the movie.

Ruffled Tissue fans with layered colors were used throughout the party.  We created mini ruffle stands for the mini cupcakes (from Cupcrazed) that remind us of the classic Easter Bunny’s collar.  Small piles of jelly beans were placed on the mini cupcakes to resemble the little piles of jelly beans that the main character in the movie was known for.

Firefly Confections made darling lollipop cookies on sticks, which were embellished with printable flags.

The kids sported the bunny ears that are included in some of the combo packs of the movie.

Custom made chocolate bunnies made a special appearance center stage on the dessert table.  The chocolate bunnies were given a raffia collar and embellished with a kiss label from the free printables.

Egg shaped macarons (Cupcrazed) looked neat and preppy with their little bow tie cut from the patterned printable paper.

A side table was used to hold favors and extra goodies.  To add a pop of color, we lined the back of the bookshelf with hot pink paper.  The children’s mini Easter Basket favors were placed in each “nook”.  (We painted regular mini baskets with spray paint to coordinate perfectly with our decor.)

Lollipop trees displayed on the sides of the dessert table were made to resemble the giant lollipop trees in the movie.  An easy DIY for this can be found at the Anders Ruff blog.

Marshmallow iced cupcakes were displayed in cupcake wrappers from Bella Cupcake Couture.  Jelly beans adorned these cupcakes as well as a printable topper with a ruffle rosette matting.  This side table also held a smaller version of the DIY gumball machines and were filled with coordinating jelly beans.

Mini cupcakes were set in cute striped candy tins from Nashville Wraps.  Once the kids ate their mini cupcakes, they could fill their tin with jelly beans from the gumball machine to take home.

Bright green favor boxes (Shop Sweet Lulu) were filled with Hershey Kisses that were specially labeled with our printable logos.  A little flag adorned the handle of the little favor box.

The colorful mini Easter baskets were filled with loads of chocolate (bunnies), eggs, bubbles, and a special treat cone that was filled with shred and custom made chocolate bunny pops (Firefly Confections) in various colors.

The hang tag from the collection was tied to the handle.  The Paper Raffia (Nashville Wraps) that tied the tag to the basket was given a new look. (DIY – unroll the paper raffia and fan fold from the end all the way to the knot.)

Bubbles seem to be an Easter Basket staple, so labels were made to wrap around standard bubble bottles.

The children sat at a decorated table that held a printable coloring activity sheet as well as some favors and treats.  Bright and bold chveron fabric and patterns were used throughout the party and printables.

Chocolate drum sticks (made from molds from Mold Shop) were made and placed at each child’s place setting.  If you’ve seen the movie, you know the main character is a drummer bunny and these seemed like the perfect fit for Easter since there is no sparing the chocolate.

Custom DIY crayon boxes were constructed and filled with coordinating colored crayons.  Little favor boxes with an egg shaped closure were assembled and filled with Easter egg candies.  (Both templates are included in the Hoppy Easter Printables)

Orange soda was served in glass bottles and adorable light blue/white paper straws (Polka Dot Market) were embellished with a pop of color from a party flag that read “Hoppy Easter”.)

A Vibrant and HOPPY Easter Party

Nashville Wraps supplied us with fabulous bright tissue paper that we used to make DIY tissue flowers.

We also made tissue paper lollipops to stick out of the mini Easter Baskets by twisting the tissue and rolling it into a lollipop shape.

How do you create the backdrop? Is it made from wood or cardboard? How do you stand it up if there is no wall to lean it against on? I’m doing a similar table outdoors and have no clue how to do this.
