Barnyard Birthday Party Ideas

This colorful “Birthday Farm” Kids Party by Laura from Live Smile Celebrate just looks like a blast for the wee ones and is loaded with creative, budget friendly ideas!

Some of my favorite details include: marshmallow pops and swirly pops sprouting from mini hay bales (so cute!), paper-wrapped PB&J sandwiches, a dessert table flanked with super-creative DIY barn silos that Laura crafted cardstock and sonar tubes (purchased from the hardware store), mini milk bottles (MOO!), and barnyard themed printables featuring darling animal illustrations that adorned everything from the table to the treats. Oh ya… and can’t forget this adorable fondant-and-mini-marshmallow sheep cake topper! (more…)

Western-Themed Toy Story Dessert Table

Toy Story Kindergarten Dessert Table

Reach for the sky!” You’ll absolutely surrender to the adorable details of this Western-Themed Toy Story Dessert Table created by Fara of Little Things Creations! Inspired to create something memorable for her daughter’s western-themed Kindergarten graduation, Fara managed to whip up some party magic using recycled boxes, tin cans and baskets as the primary source for vessels and dessert displays.

Red and blue burlap and yellow roping added bright splashes of kid-friendly primary colors to the decor while still maintaining the western vibe, and the paper sunflowers that Fara created added some nice height to the dessert table and were darling focal points!

Lulu’s Cowgirl Chic Birthday Party

Invitation, Milk and Farm Fresh Items

Yee-haw parters! Ya’ll ready to see a darling Cowgirl Chic Birthday Party by Jill of Peas & Thank You’s? Saddle on up and ride on over for this adorable birthday bash… it’s creative, colorful, and bound to bring out your inner cowgirl/cowboy!

I’m totally obsessed with the amazing “Lulu” rope backdrop sign. Not only was it hand braided by the hostess herself, it sets the tone of the party perfectly, even making the garage doors part of the party decor. Brilliant! When you have a large space, making it work for you is key and Jill nailed it! And don’t even get me started on the ridiculously cute hen cake balls… I had no idea they were even cake balls until I read the description!

Main Table Cowgirl Party

Other touches that I just can’t get enough of: gourmet “Dirty”Apples {caramel & sprinkles}, hinged milk bottles with regular and strawberry milk, fabulous ruffled table skirt, and all the amazing food. Every time I see a pink ruffle cake, my heart skips a beat! The touch of pink used here makes this western party just girly enough, but not overdone. To think all of this started from a pink pair of cowboy boots!

Chewy Blueberry-Oatmeal Cookies {Recipe}

Oatmeal Blueberry Cookie Recipe

I made these Blueberry Oatmeal Cookies over the weekend and have probably already eaten half the batch, which I felt guilty about until a sweet Twitter follower reminded me that both blueberries AND oatmeal are good for your heart. Score! Yes… I know that doesn’t exactly make these fall into the “health food” category, but it’s gotta be more innocent than the chocolate chip version we usually make around here, right? =)

And getting back to the taste buds… these really ARE yummy! They have all the sweetness of oatmeal cookies with a refreshing hint of blueberry muffin goodness. I baked some of them for about 12 mins and they came out a little undercooked (not complaining at all about that though!) – and others for about 15 mins and they were more cake-y… so you can bake them to be what you like.

And now… onto the pictorial & recipe, starting with what you need:

Wonderlandia Table #5: Baby Gender Reveal

Baby Gender Reveal Baby Shower - Wonderlandia

When I asked Jesi of Jesi Haack Design to create a Wonderlandia themed table tailored to a BABY SHOWER {for the Glue Dots Tablescape Exhibit} at our launch party, I had no idea she was also going to incorporate the Gender Reveal aspect but am so happy that she did!

Gender reveal partieswhether an intimate dinner with family or a full-on baby shower – seem to be a growing trend lately, and I have to agree that it’s very fun/exciting to be able to actually witness the facial expressions of the parents-to-be when they first discover if it’s a little boy or a little girl that will be joining their family and process that for the first time… truly an amazing thing!

Baby Gender Reveal Baby Shower - Wonderlandia

Another thing I wasn’t aware of when approaching Jesi about this table… she’s actually pregnant herself! And in order to bring her table to life she enlisted the help of floral designer Carissa from JL Designs and pastry chef Melody of Sweet and Saucy Shop, who BOTH happen to be expecting as well… so what you see here is a baby shower theme dreamed up by preggo ladies… now there’s fun twist! (And CONGRATS to all three!} Add in some wonderfully playful & modern stationery elements by Posh Paperie, and this all adds up to one amazing looking party. And in case you’re curious about the outcome in this particular instance… It’s a GIRL! =)

Wonderlandia Table #4: “Confetti & Rabbits” Inspired Bridal Shower

Wonderlandia Bridal Shower - Confetti and Rabbits

Vicky from A Subtle Revelry put such a playful and super creative spin on “Wonderlandia” for her interpretation of the theme with this fabulous “Confetti and Rabbits” Bridal Shower tablescape {for our Glue Dots Tablescape Exhibit}! She had me from the get-go with those little ultra-modern rabbit silhouettes, but the way she displayed them between wooden blocks and “looking glass” plates was simply INSPIRED!

And how fabulous do the homemade cakes look adorned with wired confetti “cake toppers”? Those are actually Christmas tree garland pick decorations repurposed as cake decorations – GENIUS! The polka dot “Bingo” linen from La Tavola really played up the “confetti” element in this design, which was also brought to life through colorful paper circles, mini DIY honeycombs, and stacks of cookies sprinkled with bright pink sugar. Another fun touch: a giant orange balloon attached to a beaded crystal “string” adorned the guest of honor’s chair!

Wonderlandia Table #3: Pink & Orange, Tea-Inspired Wedding Theme

Pink Orange Wonderlandia Wedding, Tea Party

As a huge fan of Heather Ham‘s work and vintage-meets-modern style, it’s no surprise that the Wonderlandia table design she created {for our Glue Dots Tablescape Exhibit} was nothing short of stunning! Heather’s table was tailored to a Wedding celebration and featured tons of gorgeous flowers blossoming from all-white tea pots and candlestick holders, which provided a nice contrast to the arrangements and really made the colors POP!

I’m also loving the contrast between the rich, vibrant colors of the flowers and the more subdued hues of the table linens and paper details… you might say it’s a “perfect marraige”! *wink* – couldn’t resist! Bottles of Sparkling Grapefruit IZZE sat atop “Drink Me” tags in an ode to the Wonderland theme, bands of satin ribbon were used to dress up the napkins, and contemporary patterns adorned the invitations and stationery.

Wonderlandia Table #2: Adult Birthday Party

Wonderlandia Adult Birthday Party, Wedding

Some how “gorgeous” hardly even seems an adequate enough word to describe this amazing Wonderlandia table design by Carolyn of The Special Day!

Tasked with creating a tablescape {for our Glue Dots Tablescape Exhibit} that would appeal to the “big” kids (occasion: Adult Birthday Party), Carolyn truly brought the spirit of wonderland to life with this moss-covered table adorned with “flowering” tea pots, whimsical cake centerpieces, fabulous giant fabric flower chair backs, and more! The place settings were even elevated with wide upside down glass vases… because as she notes in the creative details below… anything goes in Wonderlandia!

Wonderlandia Adult Birthday Party, Wedding

There’s so much inspiration to be found here for all sorts of “wonderland” themed celebrations…I especially love how one of the tea pots is displayed atop moss inside a glass cake dome – this would make for a great stand-alone centerpiece for a bridal/baby shower…. and the “Drink Me” tags adorning the wine glasses makes the sparkling mango drinks look even more tempting!

Wonderlandia - Kids Birthday Party

I am SO excited to share this first Wonderlandia table with you – it’s definitely full of WONDER and IMAGINATION! This design {which was part of our Glue Dots Tablescape Exhibit} was tailored to a Kids Birthday Party and was dreamed up by designer & mom Abigail Barnes of Paper and Cake (who also just launched a shiny new website!).

I just love how she took the “Wonderlandia” concept in a totally unique direction, playing on the idea of an imaginary trip across the world… how fun is that?! (I bet you could tailor some of these ideas to a super-cute “Welcome to the World” themed baby shower too.)

Creative Wedding Luncheon with Vintage Cars, Tissue Poms, & IZZE “Table Runners”

Creative Wedding Luncheon with IZZE

Set in a Vintage Car Museum and adorned with a fabulous color palette that matched the cars, modern patterns, and IZZE bottles galore, this Wedding Luncheon is so creative & just looks like a blast from the get-go!  Styled by Phoebe Ludlow and Laurie Lundin, with graphic design & photography by Erica Patten, this celebration was brought to life by friends and family of the bride & groom. Erica mentioned that they “really should go into business” and I have to agree!

The tables lined with colorful IZZE are so eye-catching & fun – bottles were included in each place setting on the extra-long tables and resulted in a fun “table runner” look that added a striking element to the decor. And speaking of table runners, I’m also loving the blue patterned “runners” that were cut from table cloths purchased at Target and were positioned horizontally down the tables – a great DIY tip!

{A Pirate Looks at 30} Jimmy Buffett Themed Surprise Party

“Paradise” cheeseburgers, french fried potatoes with Heinz 57, Margaritaville cake pops,  “Nibbling on spongecake” cupcakes topped with themed fondant toppers like parrots & salt shakers, & more… HUNGRY yet? Ya, me too… not to mention LOVING every clever detail in this cool {SURPRISE} Jimmy Buffet themed beach bash that Nicole threw for her husband’s 30th!

It’s SERIOUSLY impressive how many different song lyrics Nicole was able to work into everything from the food & drinks to the favors (see party details below for a complete list). One thing that’s definitely a standout though – even amidst the witty goodness of all the edible treats – is the autographed picture customized specifically for the guest of honor. Summer Entertaining with Brooke Burke

It’s QUITE easy to recognize that Brooke Burke is a gorgeous actress, model & accomplished entrepreneur, but one thing you might not know about her is that she also loves to entertain! Brooke recently teamed up with Bacardi to help celebrate the launch of their {yummy & super convenient} Bacardi Hand Shaken Daiquiris, which are fuss-free “open and pour” cocktails that are perfect for kick-back summer entertaining… you know – the times when you want to serve something fun & different without spending a bunch of time playing “bartender” at your own party.

And speaking of summer entertaining, Brooke is here today with some of her own favorite summer entertaining tips – touching on everything from healthy side dishes and centerpiece ideas to outdoor activities for the kids. You can listen to everything in the video above. (And as a side note about the question regarding creative party favor ideas for guests, that question was actually supposed to pertain special occasions like bridal showers or kids birthday parties hosted in the summer…the types of events where it’s often customary to send guests off with an inexpensive little thank you gift that coordinates with your party theme. For example… a mini jar of strawberry jam embellished with a pretty ribbon & gift tag or small tin of lemon candies would be very appropriate for summer themed party favors. The question {accidentally} read more along the lines of referencing giving gifts to guests at anytime get-togethers though, which is definitely not how it was intended! I’m pretty sure most party guests be quite content with just the food, drinks & good company alone!} =) (more…)

Scotch & Chocolate 40th Birthday Party

It probably has something to do with working on this post, but nothing sounds better right about now than indulging in some good Scotch and Chocolate. Since I don’t actually have either of them on hand, I will just have to settle for this incredibly fresh and creative Scotch & Chocolate 40th Birthday Party by the talented Stephanie of Spaceships & Laser Beams. She adapted her vintage car theme collection to use for her husband’s birthday party and I just love every bit of it (even the little boy peaking behind the cake…see below)!

Everything about this party is unique & different…a.k.a. refreshing! I love that the guests came to the party for some fun, but also got a good dose of Scotch “education”, as well! The vintage cars, beautiful floral arrangements, wooden pedestals, bunting banners, and vibrant color palette all came together beautifully. Oh, and don’t get me started on all the beautiful chocolates – from truffles to the fudge, they all look delicious! Even the bite-sized food (which happens to all be vegan) was perfectly displayed!
