Vintage Queen of Halloween Party

This gorgeous, witch-inspired QUEEN OF HALLOWEEN party from Favor Box Bakery has such a wonderfully “glowy”, vintage vibe to it. I am seriously in love with the crown-and-pumpkin “Queen of Halloween” display pictured above, as well as the FANTASTIC chocolate witch hats adorned with matching scroll banners!

And wait til you see the fabulous Cauldron Cake, Magic Cupcake Tree, and Cauldron Cookies pictured below… pretty darn amazing… and the perfect compliments to this entire “Sweet Tooth Cemetery“! Read on for more fabulously bewitched party pics + creative details…

Eerie & Elegant “Wicked Hallow’s Eve” Party

Adult Halloween Party

Abigail of Paper & Cake doesn’t think kids should be the only ones having fun on Halloween and we agree! She styled and designed a spooky, yet sophisticated adult dinner party starring her new Wicked Hallow’s Eve printable collection and went for a deadly color combination of black and white with splashes of purple throughout.

The creative use of everyday items such as wine glasses an apothecary jars is SPOOKTACULAR here! For example: turning wine glasses upside down makes the perfect cupcake pedestal. Who knew?! And mini “viles” of Absolute Vodka displayed in apothecary jars makes for both functional & decorative decor. The eerie off-kilter ghostly photos above the mantel take center stage at this party, while an alluring black candelabra serves as the perfect elegant table centerpiece. It’s also refreshing that she didn’t go overboard with the sweets, but snuck them in as decorative edible additions.

“Witch’s Potion Cupboard” Kids Halloween

Witch's Potion Cupboard Kids Halloween Party

This “Witch’s Potion Cupboard” Halloween theme by Bird of Bird’s Party is full of such CUTE inspiration for the younger kids! I’m really loving the bold patterns and adorable skeleton graphic on the party printables she designed. Who ever thought a skeleton could be described as “adorable“?!

This is also one “Witch’s Cupboard” stocked with ingredients that are anything but scary… in fact, I’m sure that trick-or-treaters of all ages will find the vibrant orange candies and darling fondant toppers, cake, and cookies to be downright inviting! (Especially when they’re displayed and packaged up so prettily!) This theme would also work charmingly with some sugar-rimmed mason jar Witch’s Brew and Donut Broomsticks, don’t you think?! “CARNEVIL” – A Haunted Victorian Sideshow {Part 2: Creepy Halloween Food}

Creepy Halloween Food Ideas

In continuation of the cool “Carnevil” Halloween Party by Brooklyn Limestone, here we go with Part 2… the CREEPY FOOD & DRINKS!

And trust me, there are some REALLY creepy {and oh-so-creative!} dishes on display here… like a seriously disturbing dip featuring all too realistic-looking charred, bloodied fingers reaching out “from below”. {That picture is farther down the post – consider yourself warned!} I’m also equal parts grossed out and amused by the genius “Off with his Head” Cold Cuts, which are cleverly displayed on a skeleton head, complete with pimento olive eyeballs of course!

Creepy Halloween Food Ideas

More creative edible ideas include things like a “Gray Matter Platter“, wicked-looking “Secret Ingredient Apples“, and “Black and Blue Brew“, in addition to some Mummy Cupcakes & chocolate covered Mice Cherries, both of which are a lot heavier on the cute than the creep. ;) Read on for the full Halloween feast…

“CARNEVIL” – A Haunted Victorian Sideshow {Part 1: Invites & Decor}

Haunted Victorian Sideshow Halloween Party

I’ve yet to meet super talented designer Stefanie of Brooklyn Limestone in person, but after a peek at the AMAZING October 31st celebrations she’s thrown the last few years I already want to crown her the Queen of Halloween!

I’m guessing everyone in her neighborhood feels the same way too – because Stefanie and her husband Luke really do it up right every year, bringing a super cool, unique Halloween theme to life – such as last year’s “CARNEVIL” theme, which is a delightfully twisted “Haunted Victorian Sideshow“, complete with Ringmasters, Strong Arm Man, Bearded Lady, and a Skeleton Fortune Teller! The creative decor for the party extends both indoors and out, making it possible for the entire neighborhood to at this twisted freakshow! And now you can too. Here we go…

Rustic-Style “Sweet and Spooky” Halloween

rustic vintage halloween party

Paige Kepner from of Paiges of Style is back with a super-chic take on Halloween! The black, gray and rusty orange colors of this vintage-rustic style “Sweet and Spooky” Halloween features a refreshing variation on the traditional Halloween palette and feels decidedly grown up, yet still appropriate for pint-sized guests.

In addition to the cool stationery elements (which are available in Paige’s Etsy shop), I’m loving the fabulous pumpkin cake pops featuring “spooktacular” twig handles, the “layered pumpkin pie” mason jars, and the mod all-white frames and background props. Paige even spray painted a $10 table from Goodwill for the perfect pop of rusty orange! How’s that for resourcefulness? And of course I’m especially smitten with this sign in particular… ;)

{Recipe} Chocolate Caramel Apple Cookies

Chocolate Caramel Apple Cookies Recipe

Homemade caramel apples drizzled in chocolate are always a popular fall treat, but if you want another way to enjoy the yummy combo of chocolate-caramel-apple flavor, how about baking up a batch of Chocolate Caramel Apple COOKIES?!

This is similar to a traditional chocolate chip cookie recipe, but with the addition of melted caramel and diced apples to the batter, and chopped chocolate-and-caramel candy bars (I used Milky Way® Simply Caramel in Fun Size) swapped out for most of the chocolate chips. I made a batch of these on Friday and they are seriously soooo good! I’m not sure if it’s the caramel or the diced apples in the batter, but they seemed to turn out even softer & doughier than traditional chocolate chip cookies.

Gorgeous Vintage-Gothic Halloween Party

Vintage Gothic Glam Halloween Party

I just adore the wonderful Victorian flair that Suzanna from Mon Tresor incorporated into this beautiful Vintage-Gothic Halloween Party. The entire display looks fantastic, but the charming glass bottles adorned with black lace and bakers twine are definitely a stand-out! Wouldn’t these translate beautifully to a lingerie themed bridal shower or bachelorette party too?!

Also really loving the use of black & white houndstooth throughout the Anders Ruff printables… it’s a perfect compliment to the fabulous  doily-inspired pattern on the dessert table backdrop!

Fabulous Neon + Neutral “So Glad You Were Born” Birthday Party

Neutral is the new black. Lately, it’s one of my favorite “colors” to design with, and Sharon of Cupcakes and Cutlery created the most fabulous Neon + Neutral “So Glad You Were Born” Birthday Party by cleverly pairing it with neon pink and yellow! How unique to take your traditional “Happy Birthday” saying and turn it on it’s head!

This party just looks like a blast…  Traditional birthday elements like cookies, balloons, cupcakes, and flowers are mixed in with fun & not-so-traditional retro items like disco balls, embellished roller skates, mad libs, and more. Even the pool deck area is the perfect backdrop for this incredibly bright birthday party.

How perfect are the large wood cut-out “E’s” to recognize the birthday girl? Spray paint was definitely Sharon’s best friend when putting together this birthday bash. Everything looks better with a coat of spray paint. Don’t you agree? I just can’t get over all the little vignettes, complete with throwback details like the paper fortune teller, jar of mad libs, and disco balls. There’s such a fabulous quirky element to this party that already has me excited for what Sharon will come up with next!

Pink & Green Kung Fu Panda Birthday Party

Kung Fu Panda Birthday Party

Not only is this pink & green “Kung Fu Marley” Birthday Party that Ebony of Sparkling Events & Designs created for her daughter ridiculously cute to look at – it’s also filled with super-creative activities for the kids! Between thePanda Art” table and adorable “Panda Sanctuary” where party guests got to stuff their own little panda bears, what’s not to love?! There was even a kid-sized Pink Pagoda built from scratch by family members – and even though lots of time went into building this of course, it only cost about $25 in materials… IMPRESSIVE!

And we can’t forget the eating of the treats…which is another “activity” that I’m sure the kids loved. ;) From a fabulous cake complete with edible bamboo to amazingly detailed sugar cookies and darling glittery glassine bags filled with popcorn & “panda treats”, there was definitely some talent that went into these sweets… and this entire party!

“Smashed Pumpkin” & “Poisonous” Parfaits

Smashed Pumpkin Halloween Parfaits

CREATIVE PRESENTATION is always a huge plus when it comes to desserts, but sometimes that “so cute!” presentation can also mean “way too time consuming”, which is never a good thing in my book. Luckily that is NOT the case with these fun little mini parfaits, which were also inspired by the fabulous Bewitched party from Frog Prince Paperie!

These mini desserts are actually VERY quick & easy to make (yay!) – especially if you have a piping tool, which helps get the pudding into those narrow parfait glasses both quickly and neatly. I used Wilton’s Dessert Decorator Plus, which is around $14.99 and available in-store at Michaels. If you use instant pudding, these honestly take about 15-20 minutes to make, from start to finish. Nice. ;)

“Spellbound Sweets” Part 1: Captive Candy & Wicked-Good Caramel Apples

DIY Halloween Candy Server - Skeleton Hand

Here are the first 2 projects from our SPELLBOUND SWEETS Halloween Table: the “Captive Candy” Treat Server starring an orange skeleton hand reaching out from a sugary grave, and “Wicked” Caramel Apples, which are simply homemade caramel apples with knobby twig “handles” for a “witch’s broom” effect. Both projects are easy & inexpensive!

Side note on the apples: I used these caramel apples in an early segment on the local morning news, then re-set the entire table at home for a photo shoot much later the same day. Amidst all the hectic-ness, I forgot to return the apples to the fridge in between the segment & the photo shoot (oops!), so the caramel started to puddle downward off the apples before we actually started taking the pictures! Silver lining: at least this is a good reminder to keep your homemade caramel apples chilled until right before the party starts! P.S. They still tasted great after the shoot. :)

Tons of drippy candles clustered & displayed on vintage candlesticks down the entire length of the table create a huge “wow factor” on the tablescape… while a few light-up skulls and a creepy skeleton “guest” holding center court at the table – and all decked out in a black & white suit nonetheless! – added the perfect amount of spookiness to the setting. And speaking of spooky, guests were greeted by a silent projection of the black & white movie Dracula, which was playing from one of the front windows of the house. Absolutely LOVE this idea!

Bold & Cheerful East Coast Clambake

East Coast Clam Bake Party Ideas

This beautiful East Coast Clambake designed by Desiree Spinner Events just looks like such a fun party! The bright red and yellow color palette gives off such a festive, happy vibe – especially when brought to life through fun details like red chiavari chairs, red & white check napkins and vibrant yellow sunflowers displayed in mason jars.

Looking at these pics got me thinking too… sunflowers are readily available right now – our local grocery store has actually featured a huge bin of sunflower bunches out front for a while now – so for a cheerful twist on the usual autumn palette, why not try pairing sunflowers with bright red and a few rustic textures and elements for your pretty fall dinner parties & celebrations this year? Sounds like a good plan to me… :)
