This Owl Themed Fall Party is just TOO CUTE! While the owl theme has become very popular for parties these days, Mindy of Modern Mindy did an incredible job putting a really fresh, fun spin on this one!
From pumpkin shaped popcorn balls complete with chocolate stumps, to pumpkin centerpieces adorned with hand-painted owls, to a hay ride for the kids and a 2-tier chocolate cake decorated with handmade paper flowers, this darling birthday party has FUN written all over it! I’m also loving the cool & budget-friendly butcher paper backdrop behind the dessert table, embellished with hand-drawn signage sketched with a white marker.

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Mindy…
“My daughter’s 2nd birthday party was held in our back yard. With the rustic setting I wanted a mix of rustic elements & rich bold colors. My inspiration started with a printable set by Allison Kizer Designs. The decor revolved around owls & pumpkins.
First I wanted a special spot for all the kids so I set up a rustic wood table & created a runner of different size & colored pumpkins. To add a little more interest I hand painted an owl, stripes, & polka dots. I capped them with two owl buckets filled with wild flowers. With hay bales for seating we had a super cute kid friendly table.
For the dessert table my mom & I created a butcher paper backdrop using just a white marker to write & draw with. We also made the cake & decorated it with ribbon & paper flowers. A very doable idea for someone with no experience with cake decorating! The stand was just a bucket found at a garage sale for 50 cents! To flank the cake I re-purposed green & amber bottles as vases. A little ribbon & twine tied them into the theme. Plus more picked wild flowers gave great fall texture & color.
For favors I made orange popcorn balls with a tootsie roll stuck in the top to make a pumpkin. Really easy & budget friendly. A few more pumpkins, gourds, lanterns, string lights, & campfire set the mood!
I have a big family so for every birthday we have everyone in for dinner. They’re all amazing cooks & totally willing to contribute to the menu. Brats, German potato salad, deviled eggs, green beans with bacon & apple salad. For dessert there was chocolate cake, pumpkin cake, hot cider & seasonal candy.
For entertainment my husband set up a bow shooting area, a big hit with everyone! We also did a hay ride, a huge hit with the kiddos!”
