Beach Boys Birthday Party

When there’s an event planner celebrating her little one’s first birthday, you KNOW the party is going to be good! Case in point, check out this adorable Beach Boys Theme First Birthday Party that Jaime of LA-based Your Bash designed to celebrate her son’s first birthday with friends and family.

From the beach setting and  ridiculously cool Woody Cake (topped with a surfboard, of course!) to the fabulous giant balloons, LIVE music, toy instruments for the little ones to play, vintage woody photo backdrop, and much more, this party was definitely a top-notch, “Surfin USA” experience for guests… they even have the official VIP lanyards to prove it! *wink*

Good Ole Fashioned Ice Cream Party

Fancy That Ice Cream Dessert Table

I’m just giddy writing about this incredible Good ‘Ole Fashion Ice Cream Party, styled by Lisa of Fancy That, who I have the wonderful pleasure of knowing! Lisa has an adorable shop setup inside Bliss Bake Shop, a local cupcakery in my hometown! Her products are super colorful and creative (also available online) and it turns out, she is a fabulous stylist too!

Every “sweet” detail of this party was styled to perfection. One of my favorite details is the upside down ice cream cone cake which is as adorable, as it is delicious. It’s the perfect focal point for this darling dessert table. I’m even loving how the sundae toppings are styled so beautifully! The color pallet is bold, vibrant, and blissful . One of my favorite party tricks is pre-scooping ice cream into individual portions like Lisa did, so they can be handed out quickly and easily. Oh, and don’t forget about how cute the label is around the ice cream cups! I could go on and on. . .

New Website LAUNCH + Background Story

We are overjoyed to be able to announce to you today that – after a LONG time coming – Phase 1 of our brand new “HWTM Social” website is now LIVE!

And, honestly, “overjoyed” might even be a bit of an understatement! I usually try to keep this blog from being overly “personal”, as I know that the reason you guys come here is to find inspiration for your own celebrations… but since this is such a monumental thing for us, I hope you’ll indulge me for a day as I share a little of the background behind what it took to make this project a reality, and why we’re so excited for this next step. Here goes:

This social site is this is a dream/idea that Sonny and I have had for YEARS. The first time we kicked it around was back in 2007, right after the launch of our first “main website” (formerly – the “parent” site to the blog).

I immediately realized the limitations of that first site right after we put it up. (That’s always how it happens, right?!) I also immediately realized how many talented people were out there – both event professionals and people that just loved throwing a good party and had some seriously style – and how there literally were not enough hours in the day for me to share all this amazing work via just the blog. We dreamt of a new website where all of these people could share their photos/work, save their favorite ideas from others and keep them organized into sets, “talk” to and connect with each other directly, inspire others, and be inspired. Sprinkled with Love: A Modern Baby Shower

Modern Baby Sprinkle - Sprinkled with Love

Modern Baby Sprinkle - Sprinkled with Love

I’m so excited to be “sprinkling” a bit of inspiration on you today with this “SPRINKLED WITH LOVE” baby shower hosted by Seanny of My Creative Vision! With Seanny’s best friend Kim expecting a second child, and she wanted to steer clear of the traditional baby shower themes and decided to go with a fun, modern vibe based on the trend of hosting a baby “sprinkle” vs. a baby “shower” for expectant moms who’ve already been blessed with having children.

Modern Baby Sprinkle - Sprinkled with Love

I love that Seanny took the concept of a baby “sprinkle” literally and built an entire shower theme around it. Every detail of the shower was sprinkled with sprinkles. The invitations included confetti sprinkles, the dessert table backdrop was created to mimic sprinkles and all of the desserts were sprinkled with candy toppings cupcakes, ice cream, donuts, cookies and even the rims of the beverage glasses.

The theme is clever, modern and versatile for any party you may be preparing to host. Keep reading for all of the fabulous details sprinkled throughout this fabulous baby shower.  (more…)

Red, White, & Blue Ice Cream Block Party

Ice Cream Socials are always a fabulous party theme for summer… ESPECIALLY when they look as adorable as this particular ice cream social block party by Melissa from Buckets of Grace!

The retro-modern vibe of this party makes it fun for all ages, and the red white and blue palette also makes it fabulous inspiration for 4th of July! From the soda-shoppe-like printables and “Make Your Own Rootbeer Float” station to the thoughtfully styled ice cream toppings, the kids’ shirts, and more, Melissa did such a great job thinking of all the little details! And also on the smart-thinking side of things, she used the exact same color palette as her son’s upcoming carnival party that was already in the works so that she could use a lot of the elements for both parties and not break the bank!

Deanna of Mirabelle Creations created this festive “Star Spangled Banner inspired” for her hometown’s Great American Brass Band Festival – what a creative and perfect way to celebrate the occasion!

There’s so much great inspiration for 4th of July in here too… I’m especially loving the mason jar cherry pies topped with star shaped pie crusts (so cute!) and the big hanging paper stars – which are such a great DIY decor idea for all sorts of occasions.
