Inspiring Celebrations Since 2006

Birthday BLAST OFF! {Space Party Theme}

space birthday party theme

It seems like there have been a lot of great boy birthday party submissions lately, and I’m excited to continue that trend with this FANTASTIC Space party theme designed by the ultra-creative Kim of The Celebration Shoppe! Of course there’s no reason why this couldn’t be enjoyed by a space-loving girl too! Kim’s birthday parties are always so inventive & unique though…from the food presentation to the themed activities. {For a couple more great examples, check out these fabulous Mad for Science and Dino-ROAR themes she created.}

One of my favorite parts of this particular party has to be the cleverly themed desserts! Milky Way Shakes… Cornflake MeteoriesMoon Pies (adorned with crescent moons!)… Kim even figured out a way to build adorable little “Donut Shuttles” out of store-bought treats like Hostess Cakes, Little Debbies, mini Reeces, etc. How fabulous is that?!

Real Parties: Rock Star Birthday Party {Part 2}

Guitar Picks

Are you ready for Part 2 of Jackson’s awesome Rock Star Birthday Party? I know, you’ve been dying to see the rest of the photos and to get every last detail, right? *wink* Well, I won’t keep you waiting any longer. Here goes…

{DIY FAUX DRUM SET}
I wanted to include some other “rock” elements in the party! I first saw this DIY Drum Set on Oh Dee Doh. I thought it was such cool way to add a bit of height and functionality to the Dessert Table. For the “Faux” Drum Set, I sent my hubby to Ace Hardware to pick up some empty paint cans. I had originally thought about painting them, but I love the look of the shinny metallic metal. The large bucket in the middle was white and we (my husband does all the spray painting because I tend to be a little wild and untrustworthy with spray paint) painted that to match. Then I cut out some nautical rock stars with my vinyl cutter and used them to embellish the buckets.

Faux Drum Set

{DIY CUSTOM GUITAR PICKS}
These have to be one of my favorite elements from the party! I looked into having custom guitar picks made, but it was way out of my budget. My husband mentioned he had heard about a “guitar pick punch” and I knew I had to track it down. To my surprise and delight, I found a Pick Punch and all the supplies at a really reasonable price! I printed out photos and other designs that matched the theme on full sheet label stock. I trimmed the sheet into strips (I could fit two rows across) and applied the full sheet label stock to the pick plastic. Then I used the pick punch, just like you would a paper punch, and punched out each pick! I loved each and every one. (more…)

REAL PARTIES: Rustic Glam Baby Shower

Rustic Glam Baby Shower

I always love it when people combine two different looks to come up with something fresh and unique! For example, check out this fabulous “Rustic Glam” Baby Shower theme from the talented Katie of Katie Grace Designs! She did such a great job pairing rustic elements like wooden textures and tree stump “risers” with glam accents like lace, craft jewels, and edible gold beads.

The attention to detail at this party is just fantastic… the glass mugs on the hot cocoa bar were adorned with lace and sparkly flowers, wooden spoon “drink stirrers” were dipped in chocolate and embellished with rhinestones (and fanned out in rustic dishes for a cute presentation), cupcakes were displayed on a vintage shelf (a $4 flea-market find!) and dressed up with lace & metallic gold pipe cleaners… and much, much more!

Pink Girlie Party Ideas

Stephanie from Couture Parties definitely knows how to throw a good bash, so when the client is “herself” – of course we KNOW it’s going to be amazing! Case in point: check out this fun, sparkly, and downright pink-a-licious party she recently hosted in celebration of the brand new – and super-cute! – space she opened for her {wedding & event planning} business last fall. (Congrats, Stephanie!)

There are tons of wonderful details to share from this party… but one of my favorites has to be the fabulous “dress” fashioned from wedding magazine covers! And then of course there are the cupcakes adorned with “couture handbag fondant toppers, a sparkly tinsel chandelier, lipstick-and-mirror signage, and playful cocktail rings” fashioned from metallic silver pipe cleaners and craft rhinestones! All this girlie-fun makes for fabulous bridal shower, bachelorette party, or birthday party inspiration too!

Gorgeous “Five Senses Inspired” Bridal Shower

Five Sense Bridal Shower

Delicious Desserts

Tantalize your senses with this incredibly gorgeous bridal shower created by Carolyn Chen of The Special Day Carolyn used the five senses as her inspiration for this unique shower theme. My sense of SIGHT is definitely in overdrive due to the delicious eye-candy photos alone!

From the calming aesthetic to the classic decor, every bride deserves this kind of pampering at her bridal shower. The “big day” is stressful enough, right?! The use of all-white flowers, tropical greenery and white/clear vessels and serving trays creates the same sense of serenity you might find at a spa. And then there’s the food… which could more accurately be described as “little edible masterpieces“. They are almost too pretty to eat!

More “LOVE-ly” eye candy for you today! This whimsical take on Valentine’s Day is courtesy of Vicky of A Subtle Revelry. Vicky’s parties are always full of unique and beautiful handmade ideas, and this “The Games That Cupid Plays” theme is no exception!

The holiday garland re-purposed into a heart-shaped backdrop for Valentine’s Day is such a simple, yet clever & striking idea, and cheese fondue was switched up from the traditional family-style set-up to more of an individual appetizer by serving it on small glass plates set atop wine glasses filled with tealights… genius! Arbor Mist Brunch Recap + Free Printables

Purple and Green Party Wedding Ideas

I’m so excited to finally share the details {& free party printables!} with you from the editor’s brunch that I styled & co-hosted earlier this month with Arbor Mist in NYC! Between the lush “Rooftop Garden” location at the Gramercy Park Hotel and the vibrant colors in the party decor, it really felt like a warm spring day during the party, despite the fact that it was actually February 4th in a very wintry New York City!

The theme of the event was inspired by 2 of the fruit enhanced wines from Arbor Mist that guests would be tasting at brunch – White Pear Pinot Grigio and Blackberry Merlot – and also by their fun “Up for Anything” tag line. I focused on a blackberry & green color palette with accents of fruit, and designed a suite of paper party elements to match that includes everything from invitations and drink tags to napkin rings, menus, favor tags, and more. Here’s a peek at how it all turned out…

Purple and Green Party Wedding Ideas

Purple and Green Party Wedding Ideas

While the there’s a lot going on with the decor overall, it was important to me to keep the ideas very approachable – just like Arbor Mist is approachable when it comes to entertaining. You just open, serve & enjoy… no fancy ingredients to worry about or mixing/shaking/muddling required!

If you look at the decor elements individually, you’ll probably notice that they’re relatively simple: pocket-fold napkins embellished with paper wraps, clusters of bud vases surrounding grapewood for the table centerpieces, pears adorned with glitter, paper lanterns embellished with ribbon, flowers in suspended test tube vases, etc… (more…)

The sweet Andrea of Dolce Drive created/styled this shoot and designed all the paper goods. Real Parties: Curious Charley’s Monkey Party

Paper Lantern Adorn Arbor

I literally went BANANAS for this incredible little girls “Curious George Inspired” Monkey Birthday Party! Paige from Paiges of Style didn’t miss a beat with the vintage-modern celebration that she created for her daughter, Charley. From the use of the old saying “Keep Calm and Carry On” (which she changed to “Keep Calm and Go Bananas“), to the addition of the classic throwback kids game barrel of monkeys“, to the modern pink and yellow color palette, this is a major upcycling of your traditional monkey theme birthday party!

Some of my favorite elements include the “outdoor living space” that was created, the hanging “Keep Calm and Go Bananas frame over the dessert table, and the fabric flower cupcake toppers. Incredibly, Paige even threw this party together in just two weeks! Just goes to show that you don’t have to spend months planning to host an unforgettable party…
