“Pots & Pig” Beer Tasting 30th Birthday Party

Beer Tasting Party Invitations

I’m voting that Liz of The Papered Nest wins the prize for Wife-of-The-Year-Award for this amazing “Pots & Pig” Beer Tasting Party she threw for her husband’s 30th birthday! I know my husband would be in hog heaven, (pun intended, *wink*) if I threw him a party centered around beer + bacon!

Even the party invitations were bottles of beer… what guest wouldn’t like to receive that invite, right? Liz also did a great job including unique beer-related elements throughout the party such as Pubcakes, Beer Caramels, and Guiness Marshmallows. It’s an added bonus that all of those items are sweet too! Creative use of vintage crates, twine, Ball mason jars, chalkboard signs, mini woven baskets, and bundles of wheat topped off this incredible party. Don’t forget about all of the hand stamped wooden utensils too! (If you’re interested in purchasing a styling kit to style your own event, check out The Papered Nest.)

Sparkly “Baby Wears Prada” Baby Shower

Baby Wears Prada baby shower invitations

This beautiful and sparkly “BABY WEARS PRADA” themed baby shower by Dooby Design Group is guaranteed to please any couture-loving fashionista…or pint-sized fashionista-to-be!

Cuddly plush bears and lambs added a touch of sweetness to the gorgeous plum & magenta tablescapes, while blinged-out pacifiers, baby bottles, stuffed animal tees, and blocks introduced the perfect dose of glitz & glam. The envelopment on the letterpress invitation has to be one of my favorite details though – the invite was wrapped in a custom fabric “diaper” with contrast magenta stitching and a crystal-bedecked diaper pin… SO cute!

Emerson’s Vintage Carnival Birthday Party

December is the most hectic month of my (Jessica Wilcox, Modern Moments Designs) life. Every year, I promise myself it will be easier and I will plan ahead, but without fail, it seems to be crazier than the last. I know many of you feel the same way, and for me “December madness” stems from having two kids with birthdays two weeks apart, being a graphic designer (designing Christmas cards is a full time job in itself), buying presents, and also trying to get ready for Christmas! Wow, I’m tired again just thinking about it all {wink}!

Our youngest son, Emerson, who you might remember from his Office Party First Birthday last year, turned two this month! I’ve been planning a VINTAGE CARNIVAL PARTY for him since last year…

I had my dear friend, Courtney, of Courtney Jade Photography take his photos this summer at Oaks Park, a local amusement park. The photos were amazing and I knew the invitation had to be spectacular too! I designed a four-page double sided booklet style invitation.

I also included a mini envelope in the back full of raffle tickets to get the kids excited! The envelopes were lined with a coordinating striped paper. (The following photos of the finished invitation were taken by me.)

In addition to the super cute “little lamb” and “twinkle star” inspired cake and treats, I’m also loving the beautiful custom invitations and printables used throughout the party that featured artwork reminiscent of children’s book illustrations.

Oh-So-Very Merry & MOD {Christmas Party}

Modern red black white Christmas party

What’s black, white, and RED all over? This wonderfully MODERN Christmas theme from Natalie at Southern Belle’s Charm!

As someone that tends to gravitate towards contemporary style, this shoot looks just like holiday heaven… {Looks like the little girls below feel the same way!} ;) There’s such a fabulous use of paper and pattern carried throughout though – in everything from the desserts to the decor, and the bold color palette makes every little detail POP…

Darling “Little Lamb” First Birthday Party

little lamb themed dessert buffetLittle Lamb First Birthday Party Baby Shower

This soft and furry LITTLE LAMB First Birthday Party that Carrie of Half Baked created to celebrate her daughter’s first birthday has a wonderfully calm, tranquil vibe – and is filled with seriously incredible style and grace! The neutral color palette and fluffy textures that were used throughout the party are perfect choices for the “Little Lamb” party theme, which would also translate perfectly to a darling baby shower.

The custom lamb canvas by Diana of djDecor is the perfect backdrop for this lovely dessert table, and I’m especially smitten with all the different ways yarn was used to decorate including the yarn balls, mini yarn pop-pom balls, yarn wrapped letters spelling ‘Sadie’ (the birthday girl’s name, of course), and even the yarn on the cake! Speaking of cake, Carrie is an extremely talented cake designer. Sadie’s little cake smash cake is almost too cute to eat, and the large fondant lamb cake is simply spectacular. I’m loving the burlap accents used on the cake and on the custom bib by Bugaboo Bliss.

This party wouldn’t be complete without an array of soft and fluffy desserts – including custom puffy sheep sugar cookies, fluffy white cotton candy, cinnamon pinwheel cookies, white cheddar popcorn cones, caramel apple shooter and more. Check it out for yourself! Keep reading for more furry photos + party details. . . (more…)

{Holiday Warmth} A Beautiful, French-Vintage Inspired Dessert Table

vintage winter dessert table jars and cupcakes

Although the holiday season is supposed to be a time of peace, we often find ourselves far from it with a multitude of things to cross off our shopping and to-do lists. I {Jessica from Pen N’ Paperflowers Studio & Design} set out to create a “peaceful” dessert table that would be reflective of my hopes for “Unlocking the Warmth of the Holiday Season”.

I wanted this table to convey a sense of home, tranquility and a quiet place of refuge – all while showcasing the rich traditions reflective of the season. Incorporating french-vintage elements and using “key” decor to play off of the idea of “unlocking” the holiday warmth theme, added the magical touch I was wishing for!

vintage winter wonderland dessert table

A soft, creamy white color palette was brought to life through the use of tea-stained paper doiliesivory yarn, lace doily ribbons and shredded vintage paper.  The unique handmade french-vintage design elements from Cloth & Patina were an integral part of the the decor.

Custom Designed cookies and petit fours from Bee’s Knees Creative were gorgeous accents to the white chocolate key-adorned cupcakes displayed on The Pastry Pedestal™.  White Hot Chocolate served in doily-wrapped shot glasses proved to be such a simple, beautiful presentation.

Fabulous Find: Castle Key Bottle Opener

I absolutely love when a product is beautiful, functional, well-made and unique. This gorgeous Castle Key from Anthropologie is all of those things. It’s also VERY affordable at just $12, which makes it even more desirable!

I happened upon it when I was styling a shoot where vintage keys were a key element to the overall design. I purchased it specifically as a prop for the shoot and I can tell you that although it’s a bottle opener, you will not find this hidden in any of my kitchen drawers. It’s on display in my kitchen as we speak as part of my island centerpiece.

This gorgeous gem just might be exactly what you’ve been looking for as you’ve been on the hunt for that perfect holiday gift. It’d also be so appropriate as a hostess gift, stocking stuffer, housewarming gift, or celebratory gift.

You could also unlock the magic of the holidays by adding some pretty ribbon to this oversized lovely and introduce it to your children as “Santa’s Key”.  How else is he supposed to deliver the presents to all of the homes out there who don’t have chimneys? *wink* Make it a tradition to hang the key outside of the front door on Christmas Eve so Old St. Nick can easily leave behind the much anticipated presents for your sleeping little ones. DIY: Sparkly Faux Berry Treat Toppers

DIY Sparkly Berry Cupcake and Dessert Toppers

Looking for a creative way to dress up cupcakes and mini treats for the holidays? These Sparkly Faux Berry Toppers are super easy & inexpensive… and you can always switch up the colors and finish of the berries to anything you like!

All I did was pull individual berries off of those wired “holiday picks” that you always see lining the aisles of Michaels & other craft/floral supplies this time of year. Each pick was under $1 when I purchased them on sale, but I think they run between $1.29 – $1.50 regularly. I also bought a plastic glittered holiday leaf pick from the same section & cut all of the silver leaves from that, but didn’t have a full pick leftover for this materials group shot, so you’ll have to use your imagination. ;) (more…)
