Today’s Real Party is a lovely, creative take on the popular “Perfect Pair” bridal shower theme. Instead of focusing on just the traditional pear decor, though – Vicky from The City Cradle added a creative twist with another type of “perfect pair”… a coffee + tea tasting bar!
The inspiration for this theme is best described in Vicky’s own words: “A perfect pair: plum & gray. A perfect pair: coffee & cream. A perfect pair: tea & sugar. A perfect pair: her & him.”

As someone that focuses mostly on everyday celebrations, it was so much fun to create a couple wedding inspiration boards for the article – a Pink/Gold/Yellow theme and a Yellow/Gray theme (one of my favorite color palettes right now!) – both inspired by designer gift wrap. Click here to check them out.
P.S. Congrats to Leila who tied the knot herself earlier this month!
Today’s Real Party feature is both super cute AND budget-friendly! This Orange & Yellow Trucks theme was designed by Courtney Dial of party planning blog Pizzazzerie, and it’s full of great inspiration for both boy & girl birthday parties… or really anyone with a serious sweet tooth!
Although this party was designed around cute, colorful toy trucks, I have to say that the lollipop accents steal the show too… especially the clever idea of using them as birthday hat toppers!

The San Diego event is Thursday, May 27 and LA is Friday, May 28th. Both events start at 6:30pm and are $50/person. Click here for full details. For my fellow San Diegans, hope to see you there! (more…)
Cosmos are the obvious signature drink of choice for Sex and the City parties… but there’s more than one way to enjoy them!
Below is a super easy recipe for Cosmo Cupcakes, along with 2 options for icing: yummy homemade Lime Buttercream or (for when you’re in a time crunch) simple store-bought vanilla, both tinted pink.
I found some Cosmo Cupcake recipes online, but they all had a bunch of ingredients, so in the interest of keeping things simple, here’s my shortcut: just buy a box of SuperMoist Vanilla Cake Mix and swap out the water called for on the box for a ready-made Cosmo Drink Mixer instead – it works great! (I used Simple Cosmopolitan by Stirrings®).

How brilliant are the centerpieces… carnation balls accented with colorful orchid blossoms. If you’re weren’t a fan of the inexpensive carnation before, these designs just might change your mind!
Here’s another great example of how stylish carnations can look – not to mention the clever use of sugar-dusted brownies in place of cupcakes for a fun twist on the typical dessert tower:
Wishing Trees are always a great way to add a thoughtful touch to weddings or occasion showers, but it’s the fabulous, bold design of the container holding this tree that really makes it stand out: (more…)
Today’s Real Party feature is nothing sort of, well…”EXCEPTIONNEL” – to use an appropriate term for this absolutely gorgeous French Circus-inspired soirée!
Designed and brought to life by the creative minds behind Alchemy Fine Events and Canvas and Canopy, this is definitely not your typical baby shower… (unless, of course you’re accustomed to being greeted by stilt walkers and seated in translucent crystal ghost chairs beneath a sky of vintage umbrellas and parasols at the baby showers you attend!)
As you can probably tell from the dazzling pics and event recap to follow, no detail was left unturned at this lavish celebration, which offers up fabulous inspiration for occasions like bridal showers, weddings, and chic milestone birthdays as well.

I’ve received a ton of emails asking about Sex and the City party ideas lately, and I love that so many of you are planning to celebrate with a pre- or post-movie party!Soooo… we’ll be featuring SATC party ideas all week long! (…in addition to other types of posts too!)
To kick things off, here’s the first round of free printables, which can be used to create things like cupcake toppers, drink stirrers, napkin embellishments, party favor tags, etc.
There are 2 different sets of designs to highlight both of the locations featured in the movie. (I utilized the free wallpaper downloads offered on the SATC movie site for the pics of the ladies.)
“City Sparkle” represents New York and features a sparkly lights background in pink and orange, and “Arabian Getaway” represents Abu Dhabi and features various beaded & silk textiles in several different colors.
Both designs are set up 12 to a page, and you’ll need a 2″ craft circle punch to create the finished circles. (Cut the sheet into columns before using the punch.)
I recommend printing these out on photo quality cardstock. Printing them at a place like FedEx Kinkos or another commercial print shop will guarantee the best print quality.
Here are the full sets and links to download:(more…)
Today has been super-hectic but I wanted to share a little sneak peek of a brand new summer party theme we’re posting on the site tomorrow morning… complete with free downloadable printables (drink parasols, place cards, etc.)to make it easy for you to recreate this same look at home!
This new Real Party has got to be one of the cutest Fairy-inspired parties ever! And this is not at all surprising, considering it was put together by the ultra-creative Kim of The TomKat Studio for her daugher Kate’s 3rd birthday.
A gorgeous paisley-print fabric and “happy” color palette of vibrant pink, orange, yellow, and green sets the tone for this whimsical party, which manages to be simultaneously cute enough for little girls AND stylish enough to appeal to adults!
(I’m sensing come great girlie baby shower inspiration here too… especially with the fabulous “tutu branch” centerpiece!)
Special bonus: Kim has also offered to do a GIVEAWAY for HWTM readers, featuring several elements from this party so that a lucky someone can recreate it at home! See details on how to enter at the bottom of the post.

I wanted to share a couple fun cocktail ideas with you today from an event I designed this past December for a client that always hosts “white themed” holiday parties. This year they wanted to do a “Delano hotel inspired” theme, which I of course LOVED since the Delano has a great contemporary vibe!
For the signature cocktails, we went with a Miami Mojito – served up in a chilled martini glass instead of the traditional ice-filled tumbler – and a White Cosmo – featuring white cranberry juice in lieu of the traditional red.
The cocktails were shaken up by bartenders from The Party Goddess, (who did a great job catering the event as always!), and these gorgeous images were taken by the lovely and talented Gina Lee.
Today’s Real Party is the perfect example of how a playful, youthful concept can be re-interpreted in a decidedly adult fashion!
Sent in by Sophia Park of Petite Productions, not only is this “Peek-a-Pooh” baby shower ultra-stylish and adorable, it’s also extremely thoughtful, as the shower’s theme was created especially for mom-to-be, with her interests & heritage in mind!

Pinwheels have been a really popular party trend lately, and I love the idea of using one of these fun Pinwheel Mobiles as creative party decor for everything from baby & bridal showers to birthday parties.
They’d look great hanging over a table, a dessert buffet, or really any area in the party space... and if the celebration is a baby shower (like this Pinwheels and Pom Poms theme), this would also double as a fun gift for mom-to-be!
These particular mobiles are from Etsy shop mamax2, and there are so many colors & patterns available!
In continuing with Part 1 of the “Sugary Sweet Love” photo shoot sent over by Jenna of Eat Drink Pretty, here’s another dose gorgeous eye candy for you… this time focusing on all the creative, colorful treats.
As you can probably tell from the pretty images, what makes this look so inviting is the fantastic attention to COLOR and PRESENTATION.
The use of mainly monochromatic groups of treats mixed with just a few multi-colored groups – all in a neat & orderly fashion – keeps the use of several different colors from feeling overwhelming and results in an overall look that’s playful & stylish!
Scroll down for lots more images… and get ready for a sugar rush! =)
So… this “Sugary Sweet Love” photo shoot is seriously one of the most fabulous things I’ve ever seen!
For those of you who love bright colors and all things sweet (like me!), this has got to be a dream wedding idea… but it’s also full of great inspiration for a candy shoppe or sweet-themed bridal shower!
This lovely theme was sent over by Jenna of Eat Drink Pretty, who also happens to be the bride starring in the photos! It all began with an ultra-creative inspiration board created by created by Annie Packman of the Marry You Me blog and was brought to life by some seriously talented vendors (see full list below).
As far as ideas go, these photos speak for themselves… and there are TONS of them, so I’m breaking this up into a couple posts. Scroll down for gorgeous eye candy Part 1… (more…)
It’s always so great to see an outside-the-box party theme, like this playful “Orange Kites” birthday bash that Elizabeth from Posh Paperie created for her daughter Hailey’s 3rd birthday…
From an absolutely adorable orange kite birthday banner and playful kite-motif invitations to clever theme-coordinating elements like floating orange balloons and wind-driven pinwheels in the centerpieces, Elizabeth did such a great job at bringing her unique theme to life!
