Gift Idea: Creative Wine Bottle Stoppers

Gift Idea: Creative Wine Bottle Stoppers

I was browsing the new issue of Real Simple last night and fell in love with these Pool Ball Wine Bottle Stoppers! Pair one of these stoppers with a bottle of wine for a fun holiday gift idea for guys, party hosts/hostesses, or the wine lover that has everything. ($34 each)

Also loving how Real Simple styled the photo above – this idea would actually look great as a decorative accessory in any combo bar/game room and would be a fun DIY decor project to create yourself (for decorative purposes only), using an old or new billiard set set, wine corks (available at craft stores), & a hot glue gun… plus a very strong adhesive if you plan to display it on the wall!

While checking out the details at knobstoppers.com, I also discovered lots of other cool bottle stopper designs… from vintage designs channeling Anthropologie or Restoration Hardware‘s style to combo stoppers/candle holders and even something for your favorite golfer:

It says to use hot clue gun. does that work? I would think after it drys, it would just pop right off… any thoughts? also, what is the metal piece at the top of the cork? does it come with the cork or do you get it separate?

Hi Lisa –

The DIY portion of the post was more of a thought on how to recreate the look in image #1 as a decorative accessory/art installation for a bar/game room, but not for use as an actual bottle stopper like the knobstopper.com products, which are made specifically for that purpose.

Apologies for the confusion!

I’m not sure what the metal part on the knobstopper product is, but yes – it comes that way, already put together :)

These would make wonderful bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts along with their favorite bottle of wine or a bottle of wine of significance. Say a Spanish wine to symbolize the fabulous trip to Spain you took with one of your bridesmaids or a wine from a particular year that is important to your friend, 2002, the year your graduated university together. Each person could be given a different one that was suited to them, allowing you to have a common theme but tailoring each gift for the attendant.

Now I totally love the pool ball wine stoppers! And I actually have been shopping for wine stoppers, these are definitely unique and fun! However 34 dollars each seems like a lot? I’d want to buy a bunch because they all look really cute together, plus have a few to put on wine. I guess I’ll have to think about it, but thanks for posting!
