Send out e-vites for smaller, less fancier events. Have an italian style dinner with pasta, bread, and soup. Its not expensive and it fills you up. I love the idea of scrapbook paper for decorating the table setting. Also, have friends and family pitch in. Game night? bring your favorite game. Big Party? Bring your favorite bottle of alcohol. a little goes a long way :)

  2. Sarah Moske says:

I Love, Love, Love the “Preppy Party”. Those are my signature colors!!

  3. Linda Chaput says:

The Asian Affair Party theme for me.

  4. Emily says:

I love the Asian Affair set. Ever since I was little I’ve loved anything asian. It’s just so cute. And of course, I love the modernred set too. It would match my kitchen really nicely.

  5. Ashley says:

My best budget tips are to plan ahead (and watch for sales) and to never purchase something that can’t be reused.

I have to say that I am in love with the Red Dinner Party and Little Bohemian themes. The LB is so adorable that I almost wish I had a child. …And how much fun is the red candelabra!

  7. I love the 4th of July theme! I can’t get over the napkin rings! So cute!

  8. I LOVE Thanksgiving Harvest.

  9. Mindy says:

My favorite entertaining on a budget tip was inspired by your site. I search around the house for items with simple shapes (trivets, small boxes, etc.), carefully wrap them in scrapbook paper, and use them as make-shift stands to add a little bit of height to various elements on the table.

  10. Brittany says:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Valentine’s Day party set- the one featured on this site- it’s so romantic! *swoon!* I love the Vintage Baby shower set too….so adorable…

  11. Maree says:

I love the look of the Asian Affair. Wonderful colors for the eyes.

  12. Leah says:

Creating a themed pot luck is a great way to get friends together without spending too much. Like a dessert party, or a favorite recipe party.

  13. Oooh I love the Preppy Party, Winter Wonderland, and Halloween!

  14. Leann S says:

I like the Halloween theme. My favorite holiday.

  15. sito says:

I love the retro-chic theme. For budget entertaining, I make turkey stir-fry. I buy turkeys when they’re on sale at the holidays and have the butcher cut them in half. Then I have plenty of meat and add frozen vegetables from my garden and/or seasonal vegetables and rice. It’s fairly economical.

  16. Trinh says:

The Asian theme is so fun and festive…not your typical red and black decor. Tip for entertaining on a budget: If you use candles that are in glass holders (once the candle will no longer burn), clean it out and reuse it as a vase.

  17. Anna H. says:

I really like the Thanksgiving Harvest. It’s so natural and so simple…. So me.

  18. Angela says:

My perfect holiday is Halloween. And the table design shown is so interactive with the specimen jars that could be premixed cocktails that the guest could pour over skull and bones shaped ice cubes that would inside their martini glasses.

I also love that the napkins are tied like bones!

  19. Andrea says:

I love decorating with colored water. I use food coloring to get different shades that complement my decor. My favorite was for a peacock themed party- I had all sorts of shades of green, blue and teal…

  20. Tara says:

I am all about the “Girls Night Out”! There is a group of us gals that get together a few times a year, just to be girls, hang out and have fun! Sometimes we get a little crazy with the martini’s flowing, but I love the feminine pink with the zebra – that’s what we are all about a little bit girly with a wild side!!! Love it!

  21. lizzie says:

They’re so pretty! My favorite party theme(s) would be an Asian Affair and Winter Wonderland, so beautiful!

  22. Alex says:

    I love the Valentine theme!

My tip for entertaining on a budget is buying decorations at the dollar store. You can usually find any colour paper napkins, and cute plastic or paper cups (if it’s going to be a larger gathering).

For Christmas I bought some inexpensive christmas balls and put them in a vase and scattered them on tables. Instantly festive!

  23. Teresa says:

Black Vine set is awesome, I would love to win.

  24. Karin C. says:

I love the Black Vine Set, even though red is my favorite color. , so I would love to win this one, and buy that one!

  25. Lorena says:

I LOVE the Girls Night Out…love hot pink and zebra!!

    THIS IS RIGHT EMAIL SORRY!

  26. Deborah R says:

My favorite party theme from Social Couture is the Preppy Party.

  27. Cathie says:

There are so many and they are all so good. I guess my favorite right now would be the Patriotic Party. Make it an elegant barbecue or picnic

  28. Jean F says:

I like the Girls Night Out theme

  29. Lisa W. says:

My entertaining on a budget is TARGET. I love to go and get awesome deals the day after xmas sale and FREE stuff. Xmas bulbs are great to use in floral vases to add color or spread around a table. The FREE stuff are great 3D frames that are 36×24. They were used for their displays. I used it for a “New Year ” banner. The other great freebie was a 2 xmas present boxes that was 3ft. tall. I’m going to use it for `a great centerpiece on a xmas buffet table. Can’t wait!

  30. Sylvia Belle says:

The red theme is great. I would have to have a Valentines Day party.

  31. Geri Wolf says:

TIP: Make sure all elements of your party has multiple purposes.

I look at food presentation as part of the decor, entertainment and nourishment. i.e. a square vase of wheat grass with fruit skewers stuck in it works as a great centerpiece. The fruit skewers look like fresh flowers growing in the fields.

Presenting food nicely makes it look like you spent a lot on rather inexpensive hors doeuvres. It also acts as a nice ice breaker for guests who don’t know each other all that well.

  32. Michelle Shaw says:

I love the girls night out set

  33. Patti Sherman says:

I like the Hollywood Glam as I am a glitz person!

  34. Linda Lansford says:

    Thanksgiving Harvest is my choice

  35. Casie says:

My favorite party theme is the Mexican Fiesta!

  36. Shellie Seering says:

Our friends always do a potluck get together. The reason to party is to be together, not to “break the bank” entertaining.

  37. Kate says:

My favorite budget friendly entertaining idea is to not be afraid to say “yes!” when people ask if they can bring something.

If someone offers to bring something, i ask them to bring a bottle of wine – it’s easy and an extra bottle of wine never goes to waste!

  38. Melissa says:

My fave is the Preppy Party theme! I would to win the red candelabra! It will be perfect for Valentine’s Day!

  39. Christy says:

I love An Asian Affair. But, I would love to win the modern red.

  40. Deborah Wellenstein says:

I really like the “Hollywood Glam” party theme. Thank you!
