Gift-Themed Centerpiece Idea

wedding reception and centerpiece ideaIn addition to the chic, “notice-me” color palette of this fantastic reception table, it also features one of my favorite ways to create a super cool, easy centerpiece. Just wrap some empty gift or shoe boxes with hip, contemporary gift wrap in coordinating patterns, then display them grouped together. You can use boxes of the same size or several different sizes – just arrange them in an interesting way. I’ve even thrown small gift bags in the mix – which are also great as “vases” for flower arrangements!

Perfect idea for holiday dinners or milestone birthday parties!

Callie Micks Aprons

Callie MicksWhen Callie Micks found herself surrounded by great dishes, cookbooks, and kitchen gadgets – but couldn’t for the life of her find a great apron that fit her style, she did what any determined, entrepreneurial-minded girl would do… created it herself! Relying on past experiences as a corporate retail alumna for The Gap and Levi Strauss, Callie created her own cool & contemporary line of fashionable, eco-chic aprons.

I’m loving the modern minimalist feel of these aprons and the contrast of bright blocks of color against dark neutrals. (And the half-aprons look cute enough to wear out of the kitchen!)

simplyFine by Lenox

Lenox Simply Fine Living The last (and only!) time that I picked out China was while creating our wedding registry at the ripe old age of 22. Aside from the not-so-surprising fact that my taste has changed since then, I have to admit that the wedding registry china has barely seen the light of day since the wedding-motif gift wrap came off. While I love the idea of "living every day to the fullest" and not saving your good stuff for only "special" or rare occasions, our original pattern just seems way too fancy and impractical for our casual get-togethers.

That’s why I instantly fell in love with the new simplyFine china collections from Lenox . Contemporary, stylish patterns that are way more versatile than formal china because they can translate from everyday dinner parties to formal occasions. I just got the Chirp pattern {pictured above} and LOVE it!

new party themes coming up

So… as I mentioned before, this week has been super hectic :0 Sincere apologies for the light posting – but in addition to our first participation in a big, out-of-town event on Wednesday and my "regular" job, we had a full day photo shoot for hwtm yesterday and I was seriously running on empty. Here’s a sneak peek at a few of the new party themes we worked on yesterday that are coming soon to hwtm.com …Hope you like! {click images to view larger}

Double Happiness… (bridal shower, engagement party, adult birthday)

double happiness: modern Asian party theme
Bedtime Story (baby shower or first birthday; no furniture moving required…these are rectangular tables {the kind your rent for parties} made to look like beds, and the cost of the duvet/pillowcase combo from IKEA is only a couple bucks more than renting a tablecloth for a day!)…

I recently discovered this fabulous new "Sparkling Sleek " line from Hansen’s Natural – which comes in a chic, minimalistic silvery can with a bright pop of color. Cool fruity flavors like "dragonfruit " and "valencia orange " – at only 90 calories each…love it!

Asian Affair

modern asian bridal shower Asian-inspired decor has always been a personal favorite, as well as the combination of bright orange and lime green, so you can probably see why I instantly fell in love with this modern Asian Affair party theme from Social Couture ! This type of look could really be used for any type of dinner party or special occasion, but I think it would be especially great for contemporary bridal showers, engagement parties, or rehearsal dinners.
