spa party ideas

{by new HWTM event correspondent: Jennifer Berson}

I was so excited when Hostess with the Mostess was recently invited to attend an exclusive spa event called Pamper Me Fabulous, styled by the ultra-creative Fresh Events Company. As a new HWTM event correspondent, it’s my job to attend fabulous fetes & chic soirees and share tips with you for recreating these events yourself.  (I know, how lucky am I?!)  But I truly was there in “style-spy mode,” checking out every delightful detail, culinary component and embellished element to report back to HWTM readers!  We hope this inspires you to throw your own Spa Party for your next bridal shower, baby shower, milestone birthday or bachelorette bash.  And when you do, please share pictures with us! Okay…here goes:

The day of decadence took place at the super cool Ford Brady Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, a very hip + sleek gallery space.  A portion of the proceeds benefitted Step Up Women’s Network, a national network of women dedicated to strengthening community resources for women and girls.  (Side note:  I‘m a member of Step-Up and it’s great!)

Guests were invited to indulge in mini spa treatments & beauty services such as cold stone facials from Cote D’Azur, hair cuts and blow-outs by Neihule, or mini-manis from O.P.I.

For an at-home spa party, you can call a mobile spa to provide pampering treatments, or for a more budget-friendly option, bring the party to an inexpensive nail salon for manis & pedis, after having martinis and appetizers at the host’s house.  These cute Spa Party invitations from Polka Dot Design will let your guests know that they should prepare to be pampered!

Ciudad & Border Grill served refreshing chilled white grape gazpacho soup in single-serving shot glasses, displayed with parmesan pastry sticks and their world famous olive tapendae and white bean hummus.  Yum!

Visit HWTM’s Recipe Box for a great selection of delectable delights, including Cheese & Parsley Phyllo Triangles, Mimosa Prawns, and (if you’re feeling especially healthy!) Fountain of Youth Sweet Cucumber Juice. The key is to serve simple refreshments that are easy to munch on throughout the party so that you and your guests will be free to enjoy the relaxing activities.

Izze soda was available to quench your thirst after a relaxing spa treatment, and also added a bright pop of color (very important!) to the stark gallery décor.

Couture Baskets created simple modern party décor using refreshing, colorful fruit placed in a dupioni silk covered box and accented with a Manzanita branch.

Lounging and chatting with girlfriends is almost as important as the spa treatments themselves, so create cozy nooks for nesting using inexpensive throw pillows and colorful floor cushions.  While the event we attended had a very minimalistic modern feel, this type of party would lend itself to a colorful Moroccan vibe, easily achieved by adding lots of candles & lanterns, draping bright fabrics, and giving guests toe rings & henna tattoos!

Guests of Pamper Me Fabulous were sent home with a “swag bag” stuffed with beauty & spa products, magazines, beverages and gift certificates, which my cat Harley enjoyed sifting through as much as I did.

For your own spa party, you can create a fun favor by including cute nail files, spa slippers, pretty polish and exfoliating scrub in these inexpensive, cute clear vinyl tote bags.

We hope you’re inspired to create your own Spa Party and enjoy some much-deserved R & R with your girlfriends. Thanks again to Fresh Events Company for including us in a truly decadent day!

    Dear HR (Jenn),

    Please accept this my letter of interest in the St. Louis Style Spy position.

    My qualifications include the fact that I like style. I also really enjoy looking in people’s open windows at night when I drive by to spy on how they decorate.

    I’m looking for a starting salary in the “swag bag” range.

    What a fun job perk.

  10. Fabulous post! We recently had a “Spa Night” for our monthly Girls Night Out at my church. It was so fun, relaxing and rejuvinating. I got some great ideas from your post to use if we do another one. I had not thought of doing that form a bridal or baby shower. What a great idea!
