homemade infused vodka
There’s a great article in the December/January issue of Rachael Ray - and online! - about how to infuse your own vodka , then turn your homemade concoction into a fun gift by attaching a cute cocktail recipe that features the flavor of vodka you made to the gift bottle, as pictured above . This is an especially cute idea for a Host/Hostess gift – and a great alternative to the standard bottle of wine if you really want to get creative!
Infusing the vodka is quite simple actually… According to RR: "Just place 1 liter of vodka and your infusion ingredients in a large bottle and seal shut; let rest in a cool, dark place for 2 to 5 days, depending on your desired strength." Here are the ingredients you’ll need for the following vodka flavors:
COFFEE
1/2 cup crushed (not ground) coffee beans; shake every 2 days during infusion.
APPLE VANILLA
2 whole, split vanilla beans + 1 apple, peeled and sliced.
FIVE-CHILE
5 dried chiles, chopped
ORANGE GINGER
1 orange, sliced + 1/2 cup sliced fresh ginger

These Victorian gift cones I found on Etsy would be perfect for stuffing those bottles in for a hostess gift! so sheek!

Where do you find the bottles? i’ve looked everywhere – does anybody know of any sites ??!
Hi Anon-
Try doing a google search for “glass bottles” – and some websites with the kind of options you’re looking for should come up. Here are a couple that look like they might work:
Bottles.US (see the Swing Top Glass Bottles)
SpecialtyBottle.com (Swingtop & Corked Bottles)
Good Luck!
I’ve been infusing vodka for friends for the holidays the past 3 years. My favorite bottle source is sunburstbottle.com – they are reasonably priced and come with corks.
